Dash panel Color choice

Gonna be updating my dash panel this winter. Should i go with white, black, red, or carbon fiber. Keeping the white gaffrig gauges, since they all work. Will prob replace speedo since its faded, and steering wheel, but thats about it. Throttles will prob be taken off and replaced or re-powdercoated... Opinions welcome!

This is what I did. Sent my gauges back and had new rims put on, they also put new lens in. You would be surprised on the difference the lens make. I painted the dash myself (candy Red to show the grind marks). Then sent back to have the labels laser etched.

Red would look cool...

MILD THUNDER 10-25-2010 08:02 AM

I really like yours wildman, even the wheel looks sweet. Im leaning that way!

Wildman_grafix 10-25-2010 08:27 AM

Thanks, seemed to update the look to me.
Let me know if you need the dash painted. I am still in Indianapolis for now.
I also did the glove box, someone this site did his and it looked good, so I did mine.

I just pulled my dash yesterday, I'm doing an upgrade as well, My boat has same colors as yours MILD, I'm trying to get away from to much red & using the silver as my main color, I'm going to keep the panel white & do platinum gauges & chrome rims & silver wheel

Wildmans dash has to be seen to appreciate the details not picked up in the pic. When the sun hits it, FOUNTAIN appears in 3D

pokey27 10-25-2010 09:09 AM

I like it very sharp

You sent the dash back ( to fountain?) I would like to paint mine but did not know what to do about the labeling. Do you remember the cost?

Ran-Dom 32 10-25-2010 11:25 AM

He likely sent it back to Livorsi. You can paint or powder coat & sent the panel to Livorsi to have the labeling lazar etched back on, I think's it under $200, I'm having Livorsi refurbish my panels & gauges

Wildman_grafix 10-25-2010 11:35 AM

I painted it, Livorsi did the gauges and laser etch.

The laser was right around $100 bucks for the dash and switch panel.

The paint is candy red over the bare aluminum. As US1 said I also put the fountain name and log under the candy in pearl, so in the sun you see it as a 3D effect.

The gauge work itself was worth it, they did a great job.

I believe back4more has some pics of his dash in a different thread on here, I think his is killer....

The silver carbon fibre on some of the newer 08+ fountains looks wild.. always been a fan of the red like wildman's. Check our the silver carbon fibre.. livorsi makes the gauges to match as well.

Joe....I vote for Red or Silver....I have a steering wheel for you cheap.

What wheel do you have? As for going to a momo type of wheel, is it a bolt on with the CRT hub? I dont really use the trim switches on the wheel anyhow.

PARADISE ISLAND 11-03-2010 07:29 AM

Red&White looks great I have same wheel Mo Mo I think?

NICE, Thanks for posting!!!

Wildman_grafix 11-04-2010 10:06 AM

I like that look too. If I have it right, on my older gauges Livorsi said they couldn't put the carbon look on them, I would have had to replace them all.

At least I THINK that is what they said.

BTW

Why the standoff box on the throttle on that 35?

Single With Twins 11-04-2010 02:45 PM

The dash on the "new style" cockpit are not as angled and I think that is the reason to bring it closer to the driver. I notice a big difference between angles from my old 42 and this one. It is a lot more vertical on my 35 then the 99 42 and it puts the dash further away.........if that is not the reason, it at least sounds good!!! haha

The new dash design on the fountains is one of the best on the market.. IMO of course. That 35 at double R is sick!

You went from a 42 to a 35?

How does the 35 do in rough water?

What is the real speed you get on the 35?

Yes, went form the 42 to the 35, we really like the 35 but obviously sacrfice ride in rougher water but I will give it to the 35.....handles itself allright.....really only twice this summer that I thought...man the 42 would be nice to have back....hahaha.....most we saw with maximus props was 98mph....I did 94mph with 4 grown men, ok amount of fuel, that impressed me to be honest with that kind of weight in the boat. having said all that, I have never gotten more than 5050RPM - 5080 RPM at WOT in any scenario, motors are fine, leakdown and compression done at end of season......might buy a set of herrings and see the difference, I have been told 2-3mph across the board.....not sure if that is true or not.

The spacer behind the controls is for clearance for the sliding door into the cabin.

yes, I just confirmed that, I'm having my '98 dash/gauges refurbished by livorsi & carbon fiber is not an option on the older style gauge:mad:
