Which boat trailer?
I need to buy a aluminum trailer for my 32 fountain and have been looking at http://www.manningmarine.com/ and of course Myco.
Myco gave me a price quote for a dual axel, Electric over hydraulic disk brakes for 12.5K. For the same trailer manning is $7500. Is the Myco really worth the extra 5K? They both are welded aluminum, and C channel. Does anyone else have a manning aluminum? Seems to be a huge difference in price. Anyone else I should be looking at? |
I had Ron and Pam build my trailer back in 07. Very nice work. and In my opinion right up there with Myco. I would go for the Manning for the price difference. Their work is top noctch and I would recommend them to anyone!

Lake Cumberland Marine may have a left over myco.

Phil, do you plan on towing all the time? A buddy had a Manning under his 34 PQ. I would put it right next to a Myco. Do you think you would recoup the extra cost of the Myco if/ when you sell?
Does Myco have a trade-in program? |
I would look at McClain as well. Myco is beautiful stuff but they are just stupid with there prices and there is no justification for it.

$12,500....Thats ridiculous for a 32' aluminum trailer.
Shogren has some trailers on his website you might be interested in. |

Yea we will have to tow all the time, and no I don't think the Myco would bring me 5K more when I sell. I am trying to get cost right now, closed cooling, and sea strainers are on my "want" list. Beginning to think I shouldn't put this kind of money in the 32. 40ICBM, thanks for the picture, good looking trailer and boat. Back4More, Yea you are right there. I couldn't believe the price. 35 fountain, Do you have one, can you post a picture? Thanks Guys, this helps. |

Yea I thought so, don't know if I like the idea of a bolt together trailer.
|
Wildman - sorry I took so long - been on the road a couple weeks but back to the trailer - McClain makes some beautiful stuff - looks all in the world just like myco but much more reasonable - best thing though is they have a website and you go on there, tell them what you have got and then pick from the list of options and they email you a price within a couple of hours. I think you could do well there and they have great pictures of there stuff on the website. Check it out and see if it fits for you. If I were looking for a trailer that is the way I would go.

Can you tell me more, welded aluminum, what kind of brakes, I beam or C channel, dual or triple axel, stuff like that. Also if you have a picture can you post it or send me one at [email protected] ? Thanks, I'll be in the Tampa area December January. |
A few of my buddies have steel mannings under their 38 Cigarettes. I have a myco steel trailer under my boat. Their trailers are all box tubing, while mine is C Channel. The mannings seem more solid of a trailer imo.
If i were in the market, i would go with manning, having seen there steel trailers. Also, Several of my buddies have Eagle trailers. One is under a 36 baja, another under a 44 baja, and another under a 40 formula ss. They are also box tubing, and very strong. Also, there is a guy who stores his 39 velocity with us, and has a aluminum trailer, I beam style that is painted. looks like steel. Very sharp. Not sure what brand, but looks sweet and well built. my buddy had a older aluminum myco under his 31 Cigarette bullet. To be honest, I found it kind of Hokey. mind you it was a 1991 model. But The frame was aluminum I-beam, and some of the other parts were galvanized. The tail lights were the bolt on style. Electric over HYD disc is the way to go! For the price, i would definitly go with the Manning. |
btw, just looking at mannings gallery. The aluminum trailer under that saber looks sweet with the clear LED lights. Buffing that trailer to a mirror like shine, then clearing over it, would be sick. Not sure if you can, just sayin....lol
Oh, and go for the drive guard...money well spent! |
I am leaning that way, how would a painted aluminum hold up is salt water?
I did think the one reason for C channel on steel trailers were so they didn't hold water, or you could see when they started rusting,,,,,,,,,,, but that is a assumption and we all know what that means. |
http://www.boatwheels.biz/default.htm deal direct with the manufacture :drink:
|
I've had 3 different mannings and couldn't be happier with them.

I just ordered a new trailer from manning, aluminum and my friend ordered a steel. Ron has been a good guy to deal with. Anyone interested in an aluminum i-beem 2008 trailer for a 35 can send me a message. I am selling the old one.

I would never build a aluminum trailer. In my opinion they suck, to light. Also they will float away on you in a current. I had a 42 steel from Mannning and it was great. If you get a 3 axle spend the extra money and get the electric over hydrolic disk , heavy duty jack , led lights, spare tire , upgraded rims to the 17's and the one tool box. I loved ours Manning. Then make the venture up to pick it up Ron is a great guy also save a pile of money and a all around nice trip. . Jeff and Jessica. LaCrosse, WI.

12,500 they serious. I would look for used or another brand. I mean you have a nice boat and want a descent trailer. At the end of the day as long as it performes its still a trailer

I do not think the trailer was aligned correct from the factory. They are the cheapest priced out there. I have a Venture under my 35 Lightning right now and have no complaints with it to date! |

I have a Manning aluminum. I have had it for 5-1/2 years and if I was to build a new trailer in the future, I would be using aluminum and I would use Manning again without hesitation.
