Still interested in people idea on values as it currently sits, I am thinking it would have to be just under a 100k as it sits.

The rap on ex-race boats is that they were built lighter than their pleasure counterparts to save weight in order to go faster and win races, and it is common knowlege that they had the holy chit beat out of them on the race circuit. After 2 - 3 years of racing many of them were considered pretty much shot from a racing standpoint- or so I was told by people who have knowledge in such matters. Actually it was more like, "You are actually considering buying a converted ex -race boat? Duh! That is a very bad idea and here's why..... (see above)."

Considering how much this thing was raced, well, I'm gonna say it's not worth more than $75k - and much less if it didn't have the 6 drives hanging off of it. Put another way, the hull itself isnt worth jack IMO.

Not sure I agree , for a few reasons . Being built by Skater with a light lay up isn"t bad . You would have to check the condition of course , but looks pretty well cared for. Consider the time and money spent on getting this boat set up right . Remember this was a project boat that spared no expense when constructed new , and had an open check book when converted for pleasure use . A race boat gets run hard , but so do most high powered pleasure boats . Often race hulls don't have a lot of actual hours put on them , unlike their pleasure counterpart . And 75k for a Skater built staggard #6 boat with Cobra power on a Myco trailer , sounds low to me . I offered them more than that last fall , even though I don't like the paint .

I have no doubt that the owner has much more in it than what he is asking - as I do in my 2000 sled. I based that $75k on the current mkt and what I would pay for the boat knowing what some former Donzi ZRC's race boats went for (they were 5 - 6 years newer and a whole lot better looking) and what beautifully painted, never raced, sit down Cig Glads are currently selling for.

But to each his own. For my money I would pay up for Shogrens' 42 PR all day long and get the newer, more advanced, never raced hull and build a screamer from there.

Some of the panic selling that was rampid before has slowed down . Most of the deals your talking about were snapped up long ago . I think a lot of the sellers that are left now , are not as desperate as they were before . I don't think you could a find a nice ZRC for 75K , I already tried . And to compare that boat the way it's rigged to a Gladiator , dosen't sound fair to me . To me the boat does need new paint , those looks are not for everyone . Shogrens boat makes common sence , but those bravos have their limitations . I mean no disrespect , I just don't agree . For the record , my ride is a staggard 42' w/900,s and #6's .

I see your point. I revised my estimate worth to $85k. I would go higher but I think something would have to be done with that paint job - leaving it as is just would not be an option for most. BTW, I want a ride in your boat :)

close enough :party-smiley-004: if your travels bring you to Annapolis , I would be happy to take you out to see the Thomas Point lighthouse

Sweet, likewise, if you make it down to Lake Cumberland in the summer or to Ft Myers in the winter we can get you out for a ride. We did our first Ft Myers offshore run last weekend and it sure as heck beats trying to keep warm in Indiana this time of year. :)

I do a bike trip out west every year in Augest . I might try and take you up on your offer for a boat ride then . I like to stop in different cities along the way , helps break up the trip .
