1997 24 CS Questions
Can anyone tell me about this boat? Got a guy that wants to trade one in and I can't find out any info on it other than what the book says it's worth. BTW What is it worth? Solid white with white windscreen, 502 mag MPI. Any info is helpful.. Thanks!!

It there some kind of fountain password to get a response? :lolhit:
Surely somebody knows something about this boat... Derek |
A buddy of mine has one. They are not good in rough water as the bottom was taken from a Skeeter bass boat (I was told). They have decent speed around 73-75 but not really a cabin on the boat more of a storage locker. They do look good on the water though.

I have a Fountain packet from ~1995 or so. It has every boat produced with a summary and pictures.
It states the 24 CS was Boating Magazines "boat of the year winner". It also states "It's targeted for smooth-water lakes and rivers" with a 17 degree dead rise for precise tracking. The boat came with a 7.4 liter 454 all the way to a F.I. 502. It also has a 35 gallon ballast in the front for pleasing "trick skiers". Cool boat. |
i had a 97 24cs for 10 years. Bought new at factory. Sold in 2007 for $31,000. Had the 502MPI . Good lake boat (Kerr Lake in NC/Va) It ran 72/73MPH on GPS. It weighed 4100#. 75 gal gas tank.

24 CS review
I boat on a small but really rough lake. The lake is 18.1 miles from dam to dam and mainly sea walls. Normal weekends we see constant 2-3 footers and some 4 footers on holidays. The 24cs seems to run great in these conditions. I run it between 32-35 MPH about 2500RPM and it gets about 3-4 MPG at this operating range. The boat rides great at this speed and on a really rough day you can fill the ballastic tank(settings: drive=1, tabs= 3 1/2). The bottom is just like the big Fountains, its has stepped hull and a notched transom. The boat does have a 17 degree dead rise which helps boat plane quicker, but makes boat want to climb waves instead of go through them like the 21 degree dead rise on other Fountains. Use more tab or fill ballast the tank and you will stop it from climbing. My friends have a 252 Cobalt and 252 Formula and they both agree the 24CS rides better than both of there boats. Those boats cruise at 25MPH for best ride unlike the CS which cruises at 35 for best ride.
