Winter Project on the 38 Fever
We are nearing the end of some winter upgrades on the 38 Fever. Gone are the 625's and in their place is a set of low hour 710's.
The upgrades are being orchestrated by Marine & Speed near Lake Cumberland, KY. The owner of Marine & Speed, DJ, is a true perfectionist and that really shows in all of his work. Pics to follow. |

What kind of speed increase are you hoping for? From what I have heard those upgrading from 625s to 710's have seen anywhere from 5 - 9+mph. I'll let you know how it turns out. |

What type of material is on the stringers?
|
Funny to see the words Lipship associated with Fountain...
|
How fast was the boat with the 625's? What's the torque rating on the 710's?
|
With a set of test props from Fountain it saw a tick over 89. With the set of labbed 27 px5s that I had on it the boat would run 88 at around 5800 rpm with a good load in it. The boat has standoff boxes on it so the dirves may be a bit lower in the water than would be idea.
The play on Lippship was DJ's idea :) |

Only one of the 625's had steering so DJ is rigging both 710's for steering - the 625's had external fuel pumps, the 710's internal, so it has to be re-plumbed, and the throttle linkage is a bit different so DJ is sorting that out as well. |
