Winter Project on the 38 Fever

We are nearing the end of some winter upgrades on the 38 Fever. Gone are the 625's and in their place is a set of low hour 710's.

The upgrades are being orchestrated by Marine & Speed near Lake Cumberland, KY. The owner of Marine & Speed, DJ, is a true perfectionist and that really shows in all of his work.

Pics to follow.

Looks good so far! The painted transom adds alot to the paint and graphics. Should be nice!!

Back4More 04-25-2011 04:55 PM

Nice!!!

Trippin 04-25-2011 05:01 PM

Yes I agree, the transom sets it off nicely.

Vary nice!!:drink:
What kind of speed increase are you hoping for?

The exhaust on the older style 625s had to clear the radiator in the back so the headers had no down slope That ment my pipes had funky downturns in them in order to exit below the swim platform. With these 710s it will be a clean shot straight out the back.

From what I have heard those upgrading from 625s to 710's have seen anywhere from 5 - 9+mph. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I saw the work in progress myself last weekend....I agree, DJ takes great pride in what he does and will make sure you get a top notch rigging job.

What type of material is on the stringers?

Fanatic 04-25-2011 10:43 PM

Funny to see the words Lipship associated with Fountain...

Fanatic 04-25-2011 10:44 PM

How fast was the boat with the 625's? What's the torque rating on the 710's?

Marginmn 04-26-2011 07:08 AM

With a set of test props from Fountain it saw a tick over 89. With the set of labbed 27 px5s that I had on it the boat would run 88 at around 5800 rpm with a good load in it. The boat has standoff boxes on it so the dirves may be a bit lower in the water than would be idea.

The play on Lippship was DJ's idea :)

Anodized engraved aluminum plate. 1/8" +/-

Sydwayz 04-26-2011 11:16 AM

Why the "Lippship" on the stringers?

www.lipship.com It's one "P" in Phil's naming convention.

Marginmn 04-26-2011 11:36 AM

My last name is Lipps

Currently running XR's with -2 shorties. If the XR's don't hold up then I'll probably try some scx upper.

Jeffro2525 04-27-2011 10:48 AM

I bet those V-10's sound awsome!!

Sydwayz 04-27-2011 11:22 AM

Only one of the 625's had steering so DJ is rigging both 710's for steering - the 625's had external fuel pumps, the 710's internal, so it has to be re-plumbed, and the throttle linkage is a bit different so DJ is sorting that out as well.
