Default Cables

I installed new trim tab indicator and drive indicator cables on my 27 today. I adjusted the trim tabs almost perfect with the sliding indicators on the dash, but the drive not so well. There is only about 4 to 5 inches of movement in the cables but the drive has a much greater motion than that. I set it so when the dive is all the way down the indicator reads all the way down. When u raise the drive up about half way up the cable is done but there sill is more movement to go up. You really wont drive it much higher than the point where the endicator quits working so i dont think it is a big deal. Does anyone have any insite on this? It this normal? The indicator on the drive is a cylinder that has a rod in it and a spring and it bottoms out on the nuckle of the hydrolic cylinder and that is what pushes the cable.

Default Cable replacement

While winterzing my 27' Fountain I found that I need a new drive indicator cable. I read your post about replacing yours. Can you remember the information about your replacement cable? Thanks Very Much. BB

Default Place to start

here is a link about changing cable and finding right length, and where to get. I actually did mine also, but I went with teleflex extreme cable.

My drive indicator cable on my 1994-27 fountain has
"morse 301947-3-216in-6172". Hope this helps someone in the future. BB

I ordered an 18 foot cable with the thought that 216 inches divided by 12 (12 inches/foot)= 18 feet. BB

Looking back on my invoice for the extreme cable part#TEL-CCX63320, it was a 20' cable. This was for 27' FASTech. However my cable thru the hull is on the port side, if that makes a difference.
