29 single or 32
Thinking about a 29 with a 500hp or would I be better off with a larger 32 with twins, I have owned large and small performance boats , 25 checkmates, 29 baja, 34 powerquest boat will be used on inland lakes and rivers

I would say with where you boat a 29 single is a better choice. Plus the cockpit is actually larger.

what is the real speed of a 29 single 500hp
|
I would guess around 75-78
|
Our 2000 29 with 500 EFI, 3/4 tank fuel load, 2 adults, ran 72-73 mph on GPS with Hydro Q-IV prop. I could make the liquid filled happy meter read 75-76 mph, depending on where I set the trim. :D The later 29's with higher X dim and B1 props were getting ~ 74 mph on GPS with 500EFI's. IMO, the 29 is an ideal river/lake boat and it is easy to tow/store/park.

32' all have twins better for docking maybe a little better in big water?29' cost less to own with a single & not much slower!I'd go with the 29' what are the prices of each boat?

Ok I am going to speak up for all the 32 owners.
The 32! But really the 32 is not that much more to tow, jumps on plane, and runs 83 to 85 with twin 500HP's. Can't really go wrong with either, but I like having twins. |
Single 29 or twin 35. Skip the 32...

Expect low 70s with the 500 single. I have been researching the same thing for months. One thing I would stay away from is the twin big block 29, very ass heavy and very very tight engine room. At least the 32's have a little room in front of the engines to do a little maintenance.
32s with 502 mags do about 75, 500's get low 80's on average. 29 with 500 low 70's, 525 high 70's very low 80's, 575 mid 80's |
I would highly recommend the 29 with a big single, fuel weight, maintance is all an advantage. I have a 29 Fever with a 540 700 hp. 90 mph boat. I run with a friend of mine with a 32 and i leave him in my wake. I can out power him all the way around.
