If they don't, the new motors are gonna go pop like the old ones.
No they won't. I won't let it happen.:drink: I'm not the least bit afraid to say stop and put it back on the trailer. That's why I will be there when it gets run for the first few times. I want to be 100% sure that everything is perfect. Im absolutely confident that the guys at Fountain will have it ready to go. We have talked several times and everyone is on the same page as to what the boat needs to be reliable. I'm sure they will get it all done. I will be there to check everything before the engines are even started for the first time, so I will know immediately if the fuel system is sufficient. I do this for every engine that I don't install. It's the only way that I have found to make sure the customer gets what he wants and what he payed for.....a reliable running engine. It's a pain sometimes to fly all over the country, but it needs to be done for the ones that I don't install. That's another reason that we only build about 20 engines a year. I can only do so much. It really limits the amount of money I can make but that's OK with me. It also really limits the problems, comebacks and failures. I build them, so no one knows them better what they want and need better than I. I'll get some pics up as soon as we get back from Miami and start the prep work prior to assembly. Eddie |
You could do the work for free if he puts giant "Young Performance Marine" decals on the boat :) .

Eddie, that's great to hear. I have no doubt the boat will run amazing. After seeing the pictures of the fuel lines and fittings that were used when the last engines popped, I can't see them being able to feed one of your motors either.

The only thing that will slow us down is the SCX lowers...apparently I dont have the pull with IMCO that you do. :lolhit::lolhit::lolhit: |

We just pulled in. We covered right at 1300 miles in about 30 hours. I'm done.
I did find a few no-no's in the boat. I took a bunch of pics but left my cable at the shop. I will post some on Monday so everyone can see where some of the problems lie. None of them are really major in themselves, but combined can result in some big problems or an engine failure. The main issues were as follows: -the switching valves to change from the saddle tanks to the main tanks. The valves are not full flow ball valves. Also, the mulitude of 90* brass fittings are VERY restrictive. There are several 90* brass fittings coupled together to make 180* and 270* turns. They are small, sharp turning brass fittings that don't flow very good at all. -the fuel needs to be returned to the tank instead of the suction side of the pump. -The fuel filter head is to small and restrictive. All of these items would have been fine with the original 525's and probably never caused any problems. However, with the power in the boat now, these issues are very important and must be addressed. We are going to dig into the engines on Monday and see what we have to work with. I have not nor will I turn this into a pissing match pitting myself against Tyler. I really appreciate him reaching out to me and offering help. I very well may take you up on that Tyler. At this point, you know the entire rig much better than I. There is always more than one way to get the job done. I am going to do what works for me. That doesn't mean that Tyler, or anyone else's, way will not or can not work. Tyler has been at this for a long time and didn't get to where he is by not doing something right. I am just going to focus on doing what I do best and what works for me. I will keep everyone posted as we progress. Thank you. Eddie |

We spent a few hours climbing around in the boat at RF's checking over everything to be sure that whatever wasn't right can get fixed. I don't like surprises. Thanks everyone for your support. We are going to get it right. Eddie |
I know Eric I dont know what to do about the saddle tanks I guess I will just leave them in for now I have them plumed in with the imco electric switching valves so the return follows the tank its sucking from , not good just leaving fuel sit in them just for reserve I will have to suck out what is in them now that fuel has to be 10 mo + old . I cant wait to here how yours runs out yours will probably get wet before mine touches the water . maybe I asked this before but what gears and props are you going to start with ?
