Go from the battery to purple or blue wire see if it goes up&down?use decent guage wire when jumping it out good luck selenoid or bad connection maybe?

pokey27 07-31-2011 08:41 AM

Ok that worked got it to raise so its the seleniod then right but aren't there two of them and both go bad at the same time

These are the selenoids right

There are two solenoids but they don't both always go bad at the same time but since they are cheap I always change all of them, Trim pumps and Drives as well. Get them at
http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-3308-n...8-smr6001.aspx
$8 each

probably a bad fuse, I had the same problem with mine last year. it would work when I jumped it too. I had to replace an inline fuse since the boat was a 1991 with no reset. hope that helps.

It's 3 extra nuts to R&R the 2nd solenoid. I recommend replacing the 2nd one as well.

Right on guys thanks got them ordered hope it works.:drink:

I may be a tad late here, but I went through the same thing with mine (38 Fever). My mechanics jumped in there, told me to "exercise the trim pumps"- i.e., work the switch up down, etc. in rapid succession ... and they now work like champs. Ozone is apparently the culprit- building up o the solenoids, then they sit over time and cannot make the circuit
HOWEVER ... never can beat new!

you can get the solenoids from Napa. their part number is
18-5817

pokey27 08-03-2011 05:00 PM

Ok guys the solenoids did not work they still just click so I had the wife hit the switch while I jumped across the solenoid and the pump runs but it is slow when I go straight from the bat it runs good and strong don't make sense need more help please lol

Slow Poke 08-03-2011 05:18 PM

Wow, That makes we wonder if the solenoids are really pulling in, All they are is a relay and when it pulls in it is just like jumping across the terminals.

pokey27 08-03-2011 05:44 PM

Ya it acts like I just bought two new bad solenoids

Wildman_grafix 08-03-2011 06:43 PM

Start checking your connections at each point.
If you have a volt meter put one end on ground then probe each place, see what the voltage does when the wife hits the trim switch.

You will find it. On my 32 I had a bad connection on the wires under the rear seat where the breakers are.

pokey27 08-03-2011 06:47 PM

Well I fixed it guys I won't tell you how stupid and easy it was to fix lol Thanks for all your help.

pokey27 08-03-2011 10:37 PM
