Wouldn't it be sweet if Reggie did this?

I understand some cost would be involved and probably wishful thinking but here me out.

I was out in my boat this weekend and I have a 91 Fever. Its in nice shape, it has its old school dash, older styling of vinyl and graphics but for an old boat its nice. I do have water coming in from the drives which i think is the steering pin bushings but either way just normal 20+ year old boat stuff.

Anyways I was out on the water and you have people that know Fountain but then there are others who have no clue, but it seems everybody knows what a Cigarette or a Baja is.

What I was thinking that Reggie does a contest monthly, yearly, etc. To bring in these old dogs and over haul them. New interior, engines, drives, paint scheme, etc. Then unvail them at boat shows etc, and maybe even get a show like overhaulin going. I think this would be great for them to get exposure to the populace. These shows seem to help people take off big time.

Maybe its just me wanting a new boat but I think it could benefit this company big time. Even if they dont do shows, have unvails at non poker run events, things like Harbor fest, Coast Guard festils, etc. to get the name out to the non performance wise folks

I just like Fountain so much and thought about getting my fountain for 2 years while deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and unfortunately could only get a 91 but I love the boat and get props everytime I am out on it, love the dang thing to death.

They do exactly what your asking for.......and the boat owner PAYS for it.

Then, once it's done the boat owner WANTS his boat to use it.....not send it out for a bunch of non-boaters to trample all over it and ruin it.

Your missing the point. And I dont see a bunch of people trampling over OCC's bikes or West Coast Customs cars when they unvail. And I am sure after a Company like Fontain were to do this, they wouldnt just chuck the boat out in a crowd and say have it. There would be the people watching the boat, handing out t shirts etc. And yes if your a paying customer I wouldnt want my boat unvailed anywhere either. But if they did it as part of a show or marketing campaign I really wouldnt care if people looked at it for a couple of hours if it were cost free to me.

Just saying something like this could really put their name out there to what you say NON BOATERS.

Face it man the boating crowd is becoming smaller every day due to prices of boats and fuel. If you can put your name above the rest you will be better off in the long run. Maybe something like this isnt economically viable for fountain, I dont know, I dont know what they look like business wise. Maybe they don't want more of the market, I just don't know.
I just see on tv they are building, cars, guns, bikes, etc. But no boats.

Not only that where is the Merchandise line, hats, shirts, stickers, etc. The only way you buy something fountain is if its knock off on Ebay or something and even then its hard to find. I mean you do a search for fountain on ebay like 10 things come up, do a search for cigarette like 1000 things come up. I just think there are simple ways to really boost this companys name and image. Imagine a nice interactive website where you could buy clothing items, or basic fountain parts. Hell you cant even find emblems or the lightning wreath sticker. You have to beg borrow and steal a vector off of somebody and have a local shop knock one off for you. This is all lost revenue for this company.

Sound like you're reusing the hull and tossing everything else. A complete overhaul like you're describing could cost as much as a new boat from the factory.

Totally agreed and just a hypothetical idea here. But there are somethings you can weigh in here to factor out cost. For one your talking factory/whole sale cost, not the same as retail. Second off is sponsoring, I'm sure Fountain could drum up some sort of sponsoring from merc and others. And I'm not saying necessarily take everything off and chucking it. If drives are fine paint and rebuild them. Interior is fine, then its fine. Then if you promote and market the boat, you will gain new customer who will buy boats or will ge their boat redone. And fountain could take old boats in on trade for new then re sell re-fab ones, the options are endless here. If you got yourself a show they pay you to be on the show and free marketing every time you are on tv, which gains you more business. An old addage I have always thought was wise is "sometimes you have to spend money to make money"

I know fountain is getting into the business more and its smart do to the fact is people are keeping and fixing things more than they are buying new.

I think Reggie is doing what he should be doing...concentrating on his new business. Just my 2 cents.

Ummm....Fellas, I hate to break the news to you but....Neither Reggie Sr, Lil Reggie nor Wyatt are working for Fountain anymore...the left over 6 months ago. They have their own company called RF Powerboats. Besides, prior to his departure Reggie Sr had not been the "owner" of Fountain for years.
