Hydro's on a 35 Single Step

Anyone try Hydromotive Q IV's on a Single Step 35? If so what pitch and HP were you running? How did they perform?

'99 single step with HP 500's, ran stock 26 QIV's. Worked well on the boat, little over 80.

Sounds like I should just stick with my labbed 28 Bravos. Thanks for the info guys. I picked up a nice pair of bone stock 30's to try and improve midrange (I don't push her wide open very often). But it doesnt sound like I will have the ponies to spin them. I may go ahead and try them Thursday just for grins. If I do I will post the numbers.

'99 bottom had a tweek so I hear.

26 stock Hydros ran at 5300 or so,perfect day would spin a little more. Also had some 28 Merc labbed Bravos that ran the same. The Bravos came on plane better and had the midrange advantage. Top speed was close but the Hydros had the edge in the handling department in my opinion.

Condor, what power are you running in your '97 ?

Great question. Pretty sure they are 500's (they are blue but that is just paint). Picked up the boat used and it will spin the 28's to 5300 on perfect water. To me - being jetboater and having previous boats with 454's that seems like a lot of RPMS on a sustained run. I was going to and still may pick up a set of 30 bravos to have my prop guy (Brian at the Boat City Prop Shop in OKC) lab them.
Would propping the boat where it maxs the RPMS at 5k damage anything?

had the same set up as Raggedge, except Stellings boxes.
We ran 28 Hydros, they were the fastest for us vs Bravo 1's.
82 -84 mph.

Blue motors in a 97 are likely HP 500's.

Maxing HP 500's out at 5000 will not do a thing to harm them. I would tend to max them out closer to 53-5400 with a lighter load in good conditions, then settle for 5000 on a bad day. Over propping can hurt your overall performance and load the motors. These things are built to run, let them.
