New Fountain owner looking for advice
I just picked up a 92 35 with twin HP500's. I have been in a cruiser for the last 10 years and am a little rusty behind the wheel of a performance boat. I think i have it figured out in smooth water, but feel it could be better in the rough stuff.
With this setup what is the ideal cruise RPM, Drive and Trim Setting? Is there a "secret" to getting on top of the water when it gets rough? I ask this because this past weekend I felt like I was all over the place and watching other Fountains go by looking like they were riding a lot smoother and on top of the water. I felt like I should be able to keep up but had to keep backing off the throttles... Should I be adjusting the tabs more and drives less? I'm just curious on what the experienced guys are doing. I'm sure some more time behind the wheel will help also... Thanks, Ryan |
Just have to play with the trim and the speed. I find my 29 rides best around 50 with drives at like 2.

Ryan set your tabs at 3 that is neutral to the bottom of the boat and adjust down from there below 3 they do nothing als the drive setting is the same 3

Thanks guys I will have to try both. I didn't mess with the tabs that much before...
Do you usually run them neutral in rougher water as well? |
Get a gps @ 4k play around the best ride&speed make a mark so you know what the best trim&tab is!

Make a mark on your tab indicator on the dash where the neutral setting is, meaning even with the bottom of the boat....you may have been running too much tab and forcing the bow down..... if its a non step pull the tabs all the way up and give it lots of trim in flat water.......in rough put the tabs neutral and trim in, maybe a bit of tab below neutral if its really rough.....generally tabs below neutral only when getting on plane
