Why Did Fountain Switch to Bravo Props?

Most of the Fountains I see have Hydromotive props. Most people say the Fountains run better with Hydromotive props. Why has Fountain switched to using Bravo props on the new boats? Better performance or ?

When they stopped paying their bills at Hydro!LOL:D Midnight

Maybe it's 'cuz Hydro's blades crack... :p

I wondered the same thing, there is a big difference between the blade configuration and the way they preform. but Reggie got mixed up with skater and these boats like the bravo's. We may never know but run what works best.

I think that Reggie got some finacial assistance from Brunswick/Mercury, and one of the stipulations was nothing but Mercury Marine parts on his boats out the door.

Beak beater is correct.

GATORONE 06-19-2002 09:33 AM

I don't know if that is absolutley correct since my boat came with Hydromotive P5's. Some of the change had to do with fountain raising the x and 4 blade hydros blow out getting on plane . Also the fact that brunswick/mercury has loaned a lot of money to fountain

GATORONE,
You hit both nails right on the head!

H ow are the bravo props working on the fountains or is it to early to tell.

Beak Boater 06-19-2002 07:35 PM

Its my understanding that when Brunswick told Reggie that you will run Mercury parts. Reggie raised the X on some of his boats to try to recover the lost MPH, due to running the Bravo 1's. Bravo 1's will plane better than the Hydromotive 4 blade, but in most applications on Fountains the Hydromotive is faster on the top end. Gatorone, how did the 5 blades work with your set up? I think you had a 35 twinstep with 575's?

GATORONE 06-19-2002 10:49 PM

Beak,

The boat is running well , it will run 97 on the GPS with the 4 blades and about 94 with the hydromotives. I can only turn the hydros around 4900 ;should have the new Merc shorties next week to cure the rpm problem.

Just curious how much the drive height might have gone up. The Fountain report says my 29 '02 is 19 1/2 and it has the 26 RH Bravo.

I am thinking about trying a Hydro but don't know if I need a 25 or 26. $490 seems to be the lowest I have seen them sold. Any used X models out there?

I bought the boat in Texas and it ran 75-76 on the speedo at 5300 but dropped to 73-74 @ 5100 at Chicago altitude and water.

Thanks
