What year is your boat? What drives you running ect? How fast do you hope to go?

boat is a 95 42 lightening with xr drives and looking to go in the mid to high 80's possibly low 90s

I did prochargers in 98 they were the "new thing". They did make the boat haul the mail but it was a constant project. Maybe they are better now. I would never want them again after running real blowers.

XR drives+42 Fountain=750HP per side supercharged=broken drives. Repeatedly.

Here's a thought. Lets say you gain 15 miles per hour from the blowers, at a cost of say 25g for the whipples. But then, blow the XR's after one season.

Upgrading to the Arneson conversion, might be something to look into, and leaving your engines alone for now. Sure its more money, but you will gain quite a bit of speed, a drive you wont break. Its not unheard of to gain 8-10mph just from the drive swap. Plus you can sell off all your bravo stuff to help reduce the cost.

I'd much rather have milder engines/strong drive combo to get me the speed, rather than big HP/weak drive combo. It all equates to more time on the water!!

You can always upgrade the drives first, then add power later. Some whipple powered mills with arnesons would be a killer boat!

This is the way to go for sure. Then up the power to 600 hp N/A. It will give you many many trouble free hours of boating. Bravos are junk in any shape or form, period.
