raising the "X"
Raising my engines in my non-stepped 35' Executioner. Higher 'X" should make propshaft centerline 2 3/4" below running surface. Engines dynoed at 675hp @ 5800 rpm. Going to run B-1's with cones & 1 1/4" shafts. Any input concerning this "X" ? Anybody tried this on non-stepped 35' ?

Could definitely go up quite a bit. Give me a call tomorrow, my number is 252-495-4545.

I agree on that!!! I set mine at 21.25 and I think I could have went higher boat it picked up alot of speed..
|
I wouldnt raise the engines, you want those as low in the boat as possible....just pop on some -2 lowers.
Thats what i did on a non step 42. |

Thaks for interest & replies. Boat currently running about 15 1/4" on the "X" which puts running surface about 1" below the cavitation plate or prop shaft at 6 3/4" below running surface. I figured running the B-1's is asking fot trouble, but money is super tight. Hope was that running the B-1's would last long enough for me to afford 2" shorties putting at about 3/4".

OLDER BOATS RAISING X
With no steps or small steps it seems like they run too flat & lose handling quality & lift. [ bravo style props] may be a rake issue. SSM props go as high as you can. Maybe Reggie could comment on our fears! Would a high rake bravo style prop help? 4 or 5 blade? |

My boat is an 84 it had #3 speed masters. I converted it to bravo's talked to alot of people even reggie on his cell and this is how I set it up. I have stock 420's with stainless marine exhaust and ran 78 on the gps... I didnt even play with props that was a stock pair of 26 bravo ones spinning them in at 5200.Gets on plane no problem with no tabs...I bet I could get 80 no problem....I know a guy with 420's and trs on his 85 10 meter and runs 70/72..The proof is in the pudding...

I just raised X dimension to 24 inches or prop shaft height to 2 1/2 inches above the running surface. Any info would be appreciated..
Does that put the engines on top of the hatch? Are you gonna need a jet ski to pull you up like the big wave surfers? Do you have ext boxes......stacked? No cabin? |
Wheres the propshaft at on newer nxt/6 boats?

That's up there. I'm worried about getting on plane now that I'm "even" with the running surface. I'll find out Sunday.
