Awesome. Thanks but I can't do this one. Airfair is 1/2 a tank of fuel. Charlie and Brian are going with the K. They could probably bring the 35's. ????$$$$????lol
As for props. It's like guns.
Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
Props don't kill drives. Engines kill drives.
Well, maybe not.
Mine lasted 100 hours before gear failure with these props.
Its inevitable with a Bravo in a 38' boat with 700HP. That's why I went to SCX.
I loved my Maximus'. 2 years before the prop cracked.
I cracked 4 Bravos in one year. If you do go Bravo, sand the trailing edge lengthwise to get rid of the stress risers.

PM me a price on the herin's. I'm gonna try some maxes this weekend. BBlades.com is gonna rent me a set for 90 bucks ;)

Insurance, check
Modified pick ups, check
New props, check
Fuel, 2nd mort

Now if everybody would stop hogging all the sun and send some my way I'll go out Saturday and report back.

I was thinking you could try my Herings if I can try your Superchargers.:lolhit:

SCX-4 Test 2

1st test
200-140?gallons. 3-4 people. Slight chop
5bl 17" 37P 16* rake
102 at 5200
Easy to get on plane
Felt like bow steer

2nd test
150?-80? gallons 2-3 people. Slight chop
5bl 16.8" 36P 20*rake
102 at 5400 on limiter with 1/8 throttle left
Easier yet to get on plane
Handles like a dream!!!!!!!
Maybe, just maybe, slight bow wander.
Coasts for quite a while when chopping throttle. As in, "Oh chit, we gonna have enough room to slow before the no wake zone?". lol Easy adjustment now that I know.

Next prop ought to do it. I hope.

My water pressures are still low.
The teague adjustable PU's hang down 3/4" from running surface and I've cut 1/2" deep notches 15" long in the hull feeding them. How deep can I grind? Anybody have pics of this type of setup on a Fountain? I've seen deeper notches on on other boats but how thick is the hull 15" forward of the "notch"?

The drives shift great. Sometimes it'll be a little rough coming out of gear. I think it's just the way the engines are loaded and trying to keep idling.
Fuel milage seems to have gone down. It could be because I'm not afraid to give it boost at any RPM(and I've done it alot) where before I'd only make boost at WOT for fear of a scattered Bravo. Also the fact that I keep doing 102 on each test. Slip plays in there too because with the Bravo I was at 14% at WOT and now I'm at 24-21% at 3000-4500 and 18% at WOT.

If this drive prooves to be what it has been in the standard version all I can say is THANK YOU to IMCO for reliability and piece of mind. Unfortunately it'll be awhile before I get my confidence back. All you Bravos out there know what I mean. lol
Can you just imagine a drive that goes 500 hours on your boat? A 38' 100MPH boat that you have the confidence in of a stock 25' boat? Time will tell. Hope it's all good.

Of course, can we ever leave well enough alone?
If a Bravo lasts(sometimes) 100 hours behind 700HP, how fun would 100 hours with 1200HP be? Hmmmmmmm?

Haven't got any running pics yet but here's a vid my friend made of the drives in motion. Next time we'll relocate the camera and there's something easy I can do to the exhaust to clean up the spray some.

Are you sure your speedo doesn't have a rev limter.:lolhit: More rake more rake !

Very cool. Sounds like you need 16.5x38"-20* to get her screamin'.

Ya gotta wonder. A 10% correction factor in my favor would be nice. lol

Mr Gadgets 03-25-2012 09:56 PM

Sounds like another set is needed.. But with the taller rake, things seem to be improving!! Keep at it! It will come to you! :)

Hering's thinking 5blade 17" 37P 20*rake.

Jeff says keep the diameter up because of the larger(than 6) hole in the water the SCX bullet makes in front of it. Sounds reasonable.
Also the rake is loosening up the boat and should let my RPM's come back. Sounds reasonable.

The 16* sucked driving. Massive bowsteer although you'd never know from the vid. The boat went straight and the wheel was "heavy?" but I didn't have to adjust(turn) the wheel much.
The 20* was great driving with a tad bow wander but nothing as ackward feeling as the 16*. The boat went straight and the wheel was "light?" and I had to "drive"(steer) the boat alot.
I'm curious about 18* but they don't have it available for testing. My next choice will have to be made and "bought". I want it to be right for obvious reasons. $$$
Has anybody noticed a difference from 20* to 18*?
Do these descriptive terms sound familiar?
Thanks
Rob
