repairing stress cracks
Hello, New to the forums. I have a 47 fountain i have decided to fix the stress cracks around where the windshield bolts to fiberglass.
My question is this. I want to try to prevent these from coming back after i repair and i am wondering if there have been any inprovements in the recnet years to prevent the cracking. I own a body shop and we sometimes use a nut that is encapsolidated in rubber and swells when tightened (to installl Mirrors on doors). I just wonder if this might be a better method rather than screwing straight to fiberglass? Any suggestions on my quest? chris |
If the cracks are originating from the screw holes themselves, countersink the drilled holes so the gel is past the bolt dia

I like to use these they don't crack the gel when countersinking the hole!
