arnesons's on a fountain

Looking for input on fountains equipped with arnesons. What would be involved in converting my old straight hulled 38 fever thats bravo equipped over to arnesons.

ALso looking for some pros/cons/ or any input relating to how arnesons would work on my old fever.

Reason being, I just ran across a old wellcraft nova with a pair of arnesons drives on it for dirt cheap, and havent had any time to research this as a possiable conversion, vs upgrading my bravo's.

Thanks
for the input

Bravos break
Arnesons don't
I'd say it'd work great.

The Wellcraft probably isn't a Bravo conversion so you'll have to move the engines forward to make room for the transmissions and reglass/recut the transom.
I think some of the Arnesons also need counter rotating engines to work correctly???

Call Rik, nice guy, he'll tell you.

I knew a guy w a 39 or 40 formula Arneson drive boat. He said he ran a water ballast tank in the front of the boat for getting it to trim out right.. ?!

You could just buy my friends boat and add power :) This boat was rigged from day one, and has the big ASD8's, a could of 800hp engines and it will break 100. This boat was restored from top to bottom and is as clean as they come, let me know if you want better pictures.

thats what I was afraid of, I really dont want to get into reglassing the transom/moving engines. I still might pick it up and hold onto them until I actually upgrade power. And see where things sit at that point.

Is there anyway to identify the different sizes of arnesons? I'm assuming these are the smaller 6's, seeing the boat has smallblocks and appears in rough shape from sitting for quite some time.

I would PM rik from Arneson or call him.

Arnesons work great on fountains.

I was heading this route a couple of years ago... I had the ASD8's with bid drops on it... You'll need to buy the true 45 degree spacers for them to obtain the correct angle coming off the transom. Rik helped me through the process... cost is about 2k each on the spacers give or take... Rik can confirm.

Hope this helps guys...

Just a question....if Arensons are so good...then why aren't they run on most of the fastest boats out there? Vee bottom record =#6. 90% of shootout class winners = #6/#8. Im not saying they aren't a good product and that they aren't fast...but there has to be something to the fact that the #6/#8 has/is dominates the majority of the top speeds attained by both vee's and cats.

Thoughts?

The top speed boats did not have Mercury product on them (cats). As to why the majority of the boats you see have the Mercury product, it comes down to the fact that we do not have an engine package whereas they do so it is easier for the boat manufacturer to sell a single power package than it is to sell a customer on a motor then an out drive on top of that. They just want to sell their boat.

Makes sense....thanks

Ask around of anyone has broke a #6, then ask the same question to arneson owners :lolhit:
