Autometers on White Dash

I am struggling with a dash upgrade- Livorsi vs. Autometer. I have the old Gaffrig Red Lines and a white out look. I have done previous boats with Autometers with good looking results. I am gravitating toward Autometer because of the new plug in connectors at Livorsi and my aversion to 2 days with a soldering gun. Anyone out there done the platinum rim Autometers on a white dash? If so ... share a pic, thoughts, etc.!!! Thanks!

Soldering isn't as bad as you think... It's a cleaner and nicer set up with the Livorsi gauges IMO. Every gauge can ground to one wire and eliminate all the jumpers from gauge to gauge. Same for the 12v power and illuminate wires.

Looks like you had the old Red Lines redone .. tried to talk Livorsi into that on mine and was told- politely -no. That looks awesome, BTW. Same general set-up as I intended. Did you have the sticks redone or did you buy new? I have been salivating over Marine - Machine, Hardin, Dana, etc. ... they are crushingly expensive for what you "get". Ahhh boats .....

yes I sent my whole dash to livorsi last year, they disassembled it, re coated the panels, refaced all the gauges & rims, new steering wheel & was quoted $1500 for everything including re doing the shifters, turns out they can not strip white throttles & refinish in platinum, so they sent me a new set! got my dash back all wired up & ready to drop in.. I wonder why they do not offer this service anymore

I don't know ... Maybe I am not persuasive enough? Did you send them the whole kit with wiring down to the master / big plug?

Livorsi was using a company called Team Marine who made up wiring looms and wired panels, etc. Great little company with fantastic service. Unfortunatly they fell prey to the poor economy and failing marine industry. They got rid of the Team Marine division and saved the fabrication, powdercoating and laser etching division who still make panels for some select customers like Livorsi. I thought Livorsi had picked up their own in house people or got another outfit to do these, from what your saying here maybe not.

I am advised that Fountain is no longer allowing anyone to use their logo, etc. Fountain can do the panels, but only in carbon fiber. Livorsi can fabricate a panel, but no Fountain logo. So, its solder / crimp / heatshrink (livorsi) or nut n' post (Autometer) new panel or no new panel ....

how can they stop anyone from using the logo? aren't they out of business? it's to bad livorsi is no longer doing the refurbished deal, It was great for guys who don't want to mess around sodering wires & wiring up the dash, when I got mine back it was plug & play

They are in business post-Reggie and are trying to protect that Fountain name, much like the new owner of Cigarette was not that many years ago. I imagine the name and the logo were the most highly valued assets at sale time. Its a shame to a degree because there are a lot of old beakmobiles out there that get rejuvinated every so often. I will say that the price for the C/F panels was "reasonable", all things being equal, so New Fountain hasn't lost track / touch with owners in that regard.
