VHF antenna
Where have you guys put your VHF antenna’s?
I kind of hate the thought of mounting on the side of the boat and have looked at some of the rail mounts, but not sure what I want to do. Anyone have pictures of what you have done? |

No holes and is below the railing so the cover doesn't touch it.

Thanks Jerry,
That is what I decided to do, installing it today if the rain holds out. Next GPS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, anyone used a Garmin 740? https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=148&pID=37721 |

I think I can fit the 740 to the left of the compass. I may have to have the local machine shop make a lower mount, it will be tight but I think it can be done.

It's very tight but it can be done.

could you hide under the gunnels somwhere. Cut down the atenna if its doesnt fit and just go underneath. I thought about this but the Ipod does the job, but it would be nice to just flick on the radio and call it a day.

VHF works by line of sight. Best if up high as possible, plus the signal would be more verticle, vs horizontal if mounted laying down.
