Shortie on a 29

Anybody done this, I have a single step and am just wondering what this would do to the handling and performance of the boat?

Anybody?

I'd like to know too! I'm planning on trying a shortie with a five bladed prop next month somtime so I can yet know know then.

That is my next project. I want to put two IMCO -2 shorties on my single step 29. I am also curious to see what it does to the speed and handling. I am not willing to give up handling though for speed.

Hey Spinletto, how does yours run with that v10 in it? What drive do you have?

I'm still trying to get it dialed in right but my top speed so far is 81 with a lot of prop slip. I've tried a bravo 24, 26, and a 28 and wasn't impressed with any of them. I'm running out of prop with the 24 and the 26 and getting a ridiculous amount for slip from the 28 and 26. I'm thinking I need something with a little more bite. I'm trying out a Hydromotive P5X 25p from BBlades the Monday after next. I'm also planning on trying a Herring 5 bladed 25p with and without a -2 shortie next month sometime so I'll keep you posted. I'm really hoping to see at least 85 but we'll see.

As far as my outdrive goes I'm currently running a standard length IMCO SC.

I've run a 30 pitch Bravo 1 4 blade up to 87mph. That was at 5,500 and 16% slip.
Have a 28 pitch now with a 1.3 gear and need to dial it in again.
81mph is pretty good for 625hp.
Mine stock from the factory sheet showed 83mph at 5,200.
How much torque does that motor have?
Found another thread where it looked like you were turning some big RPM's. Did you have the tach corrected for the extra couple of cylinders? Guessing you did but just throwing it out there.
