switching my 500efi's for new single carb motors?. up side? down side?
Looking at buying a single carb new motor set up making around 600hp... With some tweeking... My merc 500efi's could get close. I have a triple 500 set up in my 47 fountain. If i switch to single carb motors... Will i show any gas savings? Will it effect resale value up or down?? Any suggestions are greatly apreciated!!

My hp500EFI's have been very reliable, start any time any temp.
Why would you be worried about fixing a motor on the water when you have 3? I understand your worry, I used to think the same thing a long time ago when I got my first injected bike. One season of mountain riding changed that. Injection is great, what percentage of time do you think you would have a electronic failure, that a carb motor may be better to work on compared to run time without failure. |
All you need to get a 500efi a decent bit over 600hp is a good set of AFR heads and some custom cams from Bob Maddera. (RMbuilder on here) He knows just how to do it . Losing your EFI would be a mistake. Most buyers of large boats like yours want stock power that is reliable. My 500efi (that is now a 540) made 693HP on the dyno. Jeff Wurl
