I have a 27 Fever and I am thinking of adding a 6x9 speaker to the port and starboard sides of the cockpit right next to your ankles if you were in the bolsters. I have already purchased the speakers but was going to ask if anyone has had success doing this or would advise against.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have speakers in that location on my 27. It should be a pretty easy job. You will want to pull off the storage door panel to make it easier to cut the fiberglass behind it.

On the starboard speaker do u have to run the speaker wire back around under the bench or is there a way to run the wires back into the cabin and accross? It seems I was looking for a way one time to run some wiring across the cabin and finally just gave up after I took out some upholstery and couldn't find a good way

Can you find and follow the factory speaker wiring? I believe it runs through the cabin.

I dont have a fountain but my cig had its original speakers in same location, a 6x9 & a 6.5 on each side. after i added more speakers higher up in gunwale, you can no longer hear the original speakers. i only kept them in because was easier & cheaper to replace w/ new speakers than reglass or redesign the side panel to cover.

They are basically going to be the same height just on the gunwales

try removing the mirrors on each side of the cabin. this should give you access to the back of the head unit and you should be able to fish the wires through there.

In the 27 I dont have the option to go higher than the rear speakers. I run into upholstery.

Yes. I removed the lockers, and used them to trace the shape and mounting holes onto some starboard. Then cut that out, mounted speakers to them, and installed. 10" JL Audio subs will fit the recess.

I just ran the speaker wire back around under the bench, as my amps are mounted to starboard that is slid in from the bilge in to the port storage locker.

That's right. I also removed my (melted) Fountain logo lights and mounted 7.7 JL's in their place. My rear bench also had two 6.5 speakers, so I cut them out and put in 2 more 7.7 JL''s there.
