I've noticed the same above average leak situation with my 38EC, and also noticed the bilge pump output port is very low to the water line as well. Thanks for this post. I'm going to carefully check my bilge pump hose. Check valve seems like a good way to go.

If you guys do go with a check valve, I'd think it be best to locate it as close to the thru hull as possible so the hose won't be full of water holding it closed if it were located near the pump

i would be concerned that even if you have the hose going up high and the exit hole was below the water line you would siphon water in the boat once the pump shut off. Only solution I see is another hole in the boat.

the hole is only under water line when a ton of ppl are on the back platform.

That's where an item called 'vented loop' comes into the game. It's nothing more than a preformed loop with a small duckbill vent on top to allow air to in to break the chance of a siphon. And they are cheap.

A shame Fountain didn't just move that thru hull forward a couple feet allowing it to be located higher than the water line would ever get. Seems like a simple concept. :party-smiley-004:
