Cooler drain idea

Has anyone tried this before? This is the drain on the bottom of the cooler. I figured this might be a better way to keep water in the cooler.

If that is tied into the sink drain like mine used to be the problem is when sitting in the water the cooler is lower.

Anything from the sink goes into the cooler.

Shouldn't be a problem with the valve closed. Right?
