Burning up rubber boots, any ideas?

Bought the 97 Fever last fall 340 hrs. fresh water only. Boot on starboard side from corsa switchable from transom to prop was kinda burnt looking. In the spring changed raw water impeller, fished out blades from coolers, and circ pump was weeping a little, changed that aswell, figured all was good. Changed boots from thru hull to prop aswell. Out last weekend, running thru transom, smelled something like rubber burning, turned out the exhaust boot from corsa to prop was melting! While running thru transom!? Engine temp was 160 and oil temp was 180, been running boat for 1 hour plus before this happened. Not running anymore that 3500rpm, just cruising. Brought the boat home, pulled risers and corsa parts, everything looks fine. Before I pulled the risers I took the hoses off from manifolds to risers and started the boat, pumps water like crazy. Sorry if I'm rambling, but totally confused what is going on or what to do! Hopefully someone has an idea. Thanks alot, Paul

I would check all 1.25 hose. I had the same proplem and the hose lining on the inside hose was coming apart and was restricting flow. This is a wire reforced hose that you would think you would have this proplem.

Ok, fixed it. But have another problem. The fix.. Called Corsa, they said that the exhaust water was getting blown over the "horn" that goes to the y-pipe, cause of my Gil tailpipes being to close to the Corsa diverters. This was directing exhaust threw path of least resistence, y pipe, thus over heating it. Sooo, I put a small, 1/2x1/2 inch notch in the top of the Gil tailpipe, to "dump" water closer, and mix the water with exhaust better, when I removed the tailpipes, I noticed that someone had used the Mercruiser rubber connectors to the diverters, that have a rubber ring in the middle, figured this could lessen the flow, so I used marine exhaust hose here. The exhaust is now cool, ran 4 hours, checking with a heat lazer, all is good. But, the last time we were out, burning boots, I noticed the water pressure was low, 25lbs max. Blew out the line and there was alot of sand plugging it, figured all was good. The issue....now there is a change in exhaust tone, intermitently, running through the transom. Can't make it do it, or not do it. Figure I have a water flow issue, cause now the working gauge fluctuates between 20-30 lbs at 3k. There is a new impeller, circ pump, coolers are all clear. Where else should I check? Thanks
