Need info on Gaffrig Depth Gage

The Gaffrig digital depth gage in my 38EC is acting erratic. I'm not sure if it's defective or maybe I'm just not using it correctly. Pretty simple gage, just a SET button and up and down arrow buttons. Does anyone have an instruction sheet or manual on this gage they can email me?

The one in my 2000 is a Hummingbird with Gaffrig name on it. Bill

I contacted Gaffrig directly and they sent me the operating instructions for my depth gage along with a complete catalog of their products. (Thanks for the PM.)

For those with the older Gaffrig depth gage (model: 5001 or 5501), Gaffrig has come out with an updated model. This newer depth gage has the same size hole requirements, but larger display.

According to the Gaffrig catalog and price list, their latest high performance digital depth sounder gage costs $192, and another $15 for the gage rim. Model numbers: 5003 for black dial and 5005 for the white dial. Includes alarm and transducer.

right on thanks for the info

Glad to help.

I'm checking now to see if their old (5001 style) transducer will work with their newer (5003/5005) gage. Thought being, it would be nice to be able to swap out just the gage and not have to deal with replacing the transducer. I'll post an update when I find out.

yes that would be great if it does there is no sense in ripping half the boat apart to change the transducer

Buy the Humminbird HDR610 kit (transducer and gauge) for $99 (from Overtons, Amazon, etc), change the face and rim if the word "Humminbird" on it bothers you, and pocket the other $93 :D.

If anyone swaps it out I need the white rim off a older gage.

Ken

I ordered the new one from Gaffrig 3 weeks ago and they just now debited my account. I called last week and they were "making" them. Not sure if that meant they were waiting on Hummingbird or what.

When I pull my old one off if it is still good I will send it to you. If you will just pay shipping.

I started a thread a couple weeks ago and never got an answer but where is everyone mounting their transducers? I am not sure if I am going to be able to fish my wire through to where the current one is (under the step in cabin) I've heard of people having success mounting in the bilge.

Any thoughts?

Thanks. The rim should just screw off and I have no problem with shipping.
On the trasducer mine is mounted in the front of the engine compartment.
Thanks Ken

Got to thinking about having u pay for shipping. I guess I'm just used to saying that with larger items. I think I can afford the .99 it is going to cost:lolhit:
