They starting the SBC in them when the new style deck came out.

Nice package, they run around 70, lot more room to work on them then twin BBC, quick to plane and reliable as can be. Talked to one guy and he said pretty good on gas.

Look up boat tests on performance boat . Com, they tested them.

Latter 32's could be ordered with twin SBC's as well.

Late models = newer 2004 on I would guess
Early models = older deck/windscreen/no steps/BBC's for twins.

thats interesting I cant beleive the speed as a 350mag is rated at around 275-300hp?? Which combined you are losing probably close 200hp compared to a 454. But I guess the weight savings and probably a smaller fuel tank. I guess you could go with alphas too then.

I wouldnt havent minded a package like this even if it went 60-65 as I rarely go above 55 anyways.

my stock 575sci jumps on plane, is faster then a 525 boat and has better low and mid range crusing speeds.
That is what I would call the best set up for a single 29.\
525 / XR is a great option, just not the best offered for this boat.

My comments on HP525 being the best overall package took in consideration the complete picture; where you get awesome single engine performance on 87 octane...

70 mph would be the twin 6.2's (320 hp each). The weight of that extra propulsion package (engine, exhaust, drive, transom assy, etc) is right at 1044 lbs - kinda like adding 5 extra people inside your boat, compared to the single engine boat. Merc typically put Bravo 1 drives behind the 350 mag for reliability. They typically used the alpha with the standard 5.7.
A single engine boat with the same total hp (640 hp) would be a mid 80's mph boat.

The 575 SCi boats do seem to plane quicker than the 525 EFI boats (I had one of each). Can't imagine how sluggish one of the new style 29's would be with the 496HO or even a 500 EFI. We had a 2000 29, old deck style, with a 500 EFI and it was noticably sluggish getting on plane, tabs down, drive tucked in.

A 32 with twin 6.2's would probably be as much fun as a corvette with a 4 cyliner in it :picard1:.

I hit 70 with my 454 mags in mine with 385hp each, But I feel as if the boat has more and just dont have it pitched right with the props and think if I did the boat would be about 73-75.

Interesting information you provided. But on the 350 mags if they put Bravos on them the drives would be a wash compared with BBC. How much lighter is a dressed 350 compeared to a 454 or 502, i cant imagine your talking more than a few hundred pounds.

If you go with a big single say a 525 575 etc. You got the bigger drive and bigger engine, i also cant imagine you would be half the weight of a BBC twin set up.

From a quick Internet search the small block would be about 100lbs per motor lighter.

As for twin SBC in a 32, yea I bet they were SLOW.

The 525 or 575 are not going to be any heavier then your 454. They are the same base block; the crank and larger pistons would be hard to tell the difference.

As for the drive, it's still a bravo drive.
