40 Ft Fountain First Splash
Just finished installing my new 700 HP Blown 502's. Here's the first test run. What do you think?

Sounds nice how did she run out for you?
|
It ran very good, up on plane quickly, 68 MPH on the GPS at 3500 RPM. Then a problem, Port motor pulled up to 5200 RPM but the Starboard motor pulled up to 5000 and then lost power. They pulled 698 HP and 689 HP at 5500 on the dyno with no problems. After some testing back at the shop we discovered two problems with the Starboard motor. One is fuel starvation, were're checking the filter, maybe cripped hose, stuck check valve, etc. The other problem is the blower sucked the choke closed, we had them wired open on the dyno. As soon as we get these problems corrected we will splash again. Hopefully this weekend. I will let you know how it goes.

Sounds great, what year beak?

Just curious what you are running for drives and props? bravo's? We are doing a 10 meter, would like to get a idea. Thanks

SSM 3's with Huber 1330 Transmissions. The props are 17 x 32 3 blade cleavers. Here's a link to another video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNV472DI1F8

I take it your ratios are 1.5-1?

Ok I'll post up the numbers as soon as we get it all worked out.

Thanks. I'm not going to have time to do any testing this weekend but hopefully next week.

NICE!!!:drool1:

The boat sounds and looks really good!
|
Boy did she jump up on plane fast ! Sounded great keep us posted
|
Looks good! Can you tell me your x dimension or how far below the running surface your prop shafts are? I'm re rigging my boat with 3's now
|
I am not in the same city as the boat at the momment but I will get one of my guys to measure it for you tommorrow.

Sweet, nice setup. I have similar motors, mine made 750hp@5500, and 800@6000. Right now I am turning 17x29 four blades to 5500, gps speeds in mid 80's. My drives are 1.5.
32's might be a bit too much for 700's in a 12 meter, unless you slip the heck out of them. I'd try some 27-28p 4 blades. What's going on with the choke being sucked closed? I have chokes on my rear carbs, and didn't dawn on me the possibility of them being able to get sucked closed at wot |
Yes some prop testing is a good idea. Props for SSM 3's aren't the eaisiest things to find though.
The electric choke was not adjusted tight enough. When in full open it was still able to be pushed closed eaisily. I think the coil spring is probably worn out. We are thinking of just removing the chokes altogether. |
I hear ya on the props. My IV's have the same 19 spline shafts.
|
Ran yesterday, nice chop, got 88mph out of her on gps.
|
Great numbers Mild Thunder! I think you've got your beak dialed in. Sure hope I can break into the 80's with my setup. Can't wait to get out for some more testing. The previous owner claimed 84 with with 700 NA HP and the same props I'm running. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
