I found a ex coast guard used 1998 42 foot lighting with 496 power and bravo 1 drives 26 pitch props 4 man bolsters and a stripped interior cabin what would something like this be worth on the trailer has about 250 hours on it and is bottom painted which I would strip. Any input about how much this thing is worth would be appreciated

15-30k I dont know. being in the sevice once I remembered how things were treated but the CG may be better. But either way I would bet 250hours are equivelent to 500-700hrs the way you or I would use it.
Guess it depends on what you want to do. If the boat was sound, mechanically in good shape it might be a good buy. If you want a cabin, your probably talking 5-7k modestly to get that done. Then if dash needed to be done any other creature comforts. One thing to keep in mind is resale, its probably something you will have to keep in mind and disclose. Its kind of one of those things where its a nice boat BUT it was this before. But total invesment of 30kish might not be to bad. Factor that you will probably not get much more selling it today, as you can find them for 50-60k from normal owners.

i bought that 42 fountain from grand island, its now in spain alicante. finish price was 47.500 us dollars, beside the starboard engine burns oil, then the boat is in good condition for its age.
