BAJA BOLSTERS ON EBAY 600 OBO
261097875751 Item number |
My buddy does marine upholstery and he is always replacing the wood that is integral to seats, including the wood in bolsters. It does not make sense to me that they will not recover them because of rotten wood. You need to find a better upholstery shop!!
I did find one shop that said he would attempt it but he has never done them and gave me an estimate of 700 a side and he cant get too it before the first of the year had too take drivers side out because it was soo far gone
All they really need is the material for a pattern. For the seat you just unstaple the vinyl on the bottom and save the vinyl and the foam. Then do your own woodwork and get the seat ready. The same for the top - if it does not pull off then you may have to unsew (cut the threads) in a seam. Pull that off, save the pattern and fix that wood. Then take the repaired seat to the shop that can get it done the fastest and have them make new seats with the patterns and existing foam. When replacing the wood we resin it with fiberglass resin to give it some durability and drill holes where water may sit. I think you can do this on your own.

Where do you live in ilinois?
So. Illinois near Carbondale The wood is so far gone there is nothing too make pattern with where the seat attaches too hull is just about totally gone

I tried too upload pics but they didnt make it

You can send some to [email protected] and I will try and get some advice from my friend. I talked to him about it last night and he said the fountain seats are often a little complicated with respect to the woodwork so you have to be decent at woodwork. He suggested maybe taking it to a cabinet shop and getting them to do it for you. But I will be happy to show him the pics and try to get some advice from him.

couldnt you almost dissassemble yourself take the wood and make patterns assuming the wood is still good enough. then put back together
Do you just want the bolsters redone? With that kind of rot how is the back seat? Cheaper to do both at the same time. Also are you saying that where the bolsters mount to the floor is in need of repair? For the bolsters do you want one color or custom work?
If all the wood is rotted out it is going to be a heck of a job to rebuild those things. It can be done ..... And really what is his other options? Unless he want a different style bolster he is going to have to find something out or find used ones. The cabnet shop is a really good idea...
the wood thar attaches too the side of the hull is completely gone and there is a cup holser on back of seat is rotted off too I thought maybe would be easier too find some out of another fountain but have had no luck with that as far as custom if I can just get them back too stock plain white and solid would be major improvement passenger side is not as bad as drivers side this boat has not been pampered I am working my butt off trying too get her back up too snuff I should have never taken the test drive because I was not going too buy it but it runs very well and the seller came off the price nearly 10k too get it out of their driveway I have since gotten attached and determined I really do appreciate all the advice and help says alot about the people involved in powerboating

If the seats are that rotted what does the rest of the boat look like?
Really the rest of the boat is solid hard too believe used a moisture meter on it before I bought it dont know why seats took the brunt of the abuse
Cuz fountian didnt put alot of thought into there interior design. I love the boats and I would own one in a heartbeat. But some of things I have seen about how the interiors are put together would make you yak. Think about the design on those front bolsters when the cup holder in the back get water or drink in them.... Where will it go. None of the wood on the few I have worked on was resin coated. Again great looking boats and lots of good hard wear on them..... But I'm not thinking the interior life was top on Reggie's list.
