Trim limit ideas for triples
Does anyone know of a way to limit trim out so that the drives/props don't hit each other if they are uneven?
47 lightning with triple bravo. Maybe with electric trim senders? Some kind of comparator? |
The "problem" drive is really the center one. I'd put the Mercury limit spacers inside the trim rams on the center drive to make sure it never exceeds a certain point which makes the clearances too tight, including wiggle room as everything moves around back there at speed.

It could be done fairly easy under the dash at the indicators with some NC hall effect sensors. You could either configure it so that it killed both outside drives trim when out of range, or kill the inside drives trim when out of range. Only when you returned the offending drives to an acceptable range will you re-energize the trim pumps that were shut off.

Great ideas, I didn't know mercury had a trim limit spacer.
The hall effect idea is good too but instead of a electronic comparator, what if I made a bracket that bolted to the center drive indicator cable attachment with micro switches on both ends. The switches would contact a block mounted to each outside indicator. The blocks would be sized to the maximum travel before drive have a chance of contact. If either switch opens, cut power to the pumps. |
