Well got the boat here ran it a couple weekends and it runs great but decided to be in the safe side I would go ahead and freshen up my engines with new valve springs and bearings then I said what the hell wile I am this far I might as well go ahead and put the kits that the guy from Ateco sells on them which is new dart aluminum heads and a cam and computer change I am hoping for upper 90's what do y'all think?

TxHawk 02-19-2013 01:55 PM

I think that I am out of breath from reading that.

On a serious note, safe is expensive. With the deal you got, I would be all for the most bang for the buck!

Well....we have the same hull...I've got -2 lowers, boxes, and blueprinted hull...570 per side is getting me mid 80s. To get high 90s, you are gonna have to put some hp in there...and start worrying about your drives...

It is the kit from ateco and he says I should see a little over 600HP

Reggie Fountain 02-19-2013 09:29 PM

Thats about 200hp more total right?

T-RAV 02-19-2013 09:58 PM

Aren't aluminum heads and saltwater a bad combination?

Yes Reggie that is right and I know a couple of people who have used these kits in salt water with no issues you just have to flush your engines after each use and use some salt-away every once in a while

Reggie Fountain 02-20-2013 06:44 AM

Did a 92 35 with 625 hp motors, ran 97 mph. Did a 95 35 with 725 hp motors that ran 108 mph.

It should run 110 plus.

Crude Intentions 02-20-2013 01:00 PM

Lightning classic is single step. Reg lightning is twin step I believe.

Reggie Fountain 02-20-2013 06:09 PM

Before 2000 the lighting was a single step. After it was a twin step, single step was still built but as a exicutioner.

johnnyboatman 02-20-2013 09:25 PM

phils boat is faster than that, hes new to it ive rode in it with the previous owner its super fast and has n/a engines no blowers

MILD THUNDER 02-25-2013 11:48 AM

How much speed difference at that level in fresh water vs saltwater? Say 100MPH in salt, what would it do in freshwater?
