07 38 full staggered vs. 07 35 full stagger
i have had a couple questions regarding my 2007 38- i know i can go wide open (94-95 mph) in rough water but what is the difference in a 35 full staggered in rough water? has any one tried 95 mph in rough water with a 35?

You may want to contact this guy. I think he has.

I have an 07 35 Lightning that runs 96 mph. Rough water no problem at wide open unless there are a lot of side waves. Side waves make it a little spooky.

Being driver of both 38 and 35 Fountains on a race course, the rougher the water the bigger the boat needs to be. No comparison. 38 will maintain bigger average speeds while the 35 will need throttling more, thus less average MPH. Ran a race with a 35 in Hudson with SBI and topped out at upper 90s during the race and finished third. Ran 38 the year before and ran consistent lower 90s and won the race. Could hold speed better with bigger boat.

that is why i had to sell my 35 w/525's had to back off when it got a little rough! the 38 makes a huge difference-my dad has a 42 w/700's and you could fall a sleep in rough water lol
