2000 38 lightning gas tanks

On my new to me 38 Lightning I know it has two gas tanks. Are the gas tanks connected so the equalize the weight? If they are not would you want to connect the lines in the bilge? How big are they?

They are not connected. Do not connect them. About 90 gallons per side.
