35 single step or 32 active Thunder
Which would you choose & why? I'm looking for something fun to drive that can handle the rough stuff when required. I've been in a 35,38 & 47 but I wasn't driving. I've never been in a 32 AT though.

now this is fair:ernaehrung004:
I say both good boats..not sure that one is soooooo much better than the other,,no matter what the AT guys are telling at the AT forum... take both out for ride and decide for yourself .. |
I read the posts in the AT forum, from other Active Thunder owners. I think some of the posts may have been a little over the top, in the whole ''hands down'' 32 AT over a 35 Fountain.
With that being said, I think I'd be slightly leaning towards the AT, and I am a Fountain owner. The Active thunder will probably be a bit slower, but have a little more room ,depth, and a little better ride in the rough. The 32 Active Thunder isn't some state of the art, mind blowing hull. Its a straight bottom old vee design, that just works well for what it is. In regards to the Fountain, they are hard to beat in terms of value, speed, quality, handling, and looks Imo. I don't get why people are always suggesting fountains ride like crap. They are far from a poor riding boat. Especially when you get them on top of the waves. I run with a group of heavy older 38 cigs. There is no doubt at 55mph in rougher seas, they are a bit more comfortable. But, I never have a problem keeping up, and when feel like laying it down, walk away. If its 5-6ft'ers, for starters I'd rather not be out there, but if I have to be, and I have many times, the older Fountain takes the beating like a champ. Both are great boats, i'd try to go look at both, drive both, and make your decision that way. Otherwise, all you are going to get is opinions, and we know how that is! |
Fountain sucks! AT all the way!!!! Lolololololol! :party-smiley-004:

We live on a very big lake so a 35 Fountain is the smallest I want. Good luck with the sale.
my 32 does just fine and I would not call Lake Michigan small..... again you might want to go out for a ride on both,,,you might be glad you did.. |
