29ft Fountain Singles for Sale
 

Checking to see if anyone knows of any nice 29ft fountains single engine.

They're getting pretty hard to find now a days. There is a few for sale on powerboat listings website. (Powerboat Listings - powerboats for sale) I've got an 2006 with an Ilmor 625 in it that I might be willing to let go if the moneys right. It's has been completely overhauled and is currently getting the outdrive blueprinted and prop dialed in at Wilson Custom Marine in Stuart, FL. I've been kicking around the idea of possibly upgrading to a bigger Fountain. Let me know.

Not mine, but very close to me...if you're looking for a project I'd say its worth a look...

2002 Fountain 29 Fever

I have a 2005 29' fever with a dart 588ci. NA with fuel inj. E-box /w/ bravo xr and 1.50 imco -2 lower. It will run 96+

nothing against the singles as I mulled it over when I bought my 29. But when you start getting into the big racing motors your probably not talking any real gas savings compared to two standard BBC. Positives are you only have to do one annual maint not two and only one engine to break

Two 415 hp 502 mpi's will burn right at 67 gph WOT combined, with a top speed of ~ 82ish (single step, old deck style). If you use the gph calculator in the "range of a 27 fever" thread for the 8.2 430 hp's it says 75 gph, combined, for twin 430s :eek:. Single 525 EFI will burn 45 gph WOT, with a top speed of 76-78 mph (single step, new deck style which is ~ 300 lb heavier). 575SCi will burn right at 50 gph WOT with a top speed of 80 - 82 mph (single step, old deck style). I would gladly take that 20 - 30 gph difference in fuel burn and keep it in my pocket instead of blowing it out the transom, for more or less the same performance. :D

good point but I think if you dial it down to 454s vs a 525 or bigger your not going to be talking night and day. And I really dont want to argue twins vs single as they both have their advantages and disadvantages and just want the OP to know everything. Like I said I was actually looking for a single but only found ones with a 502 and single 502 wasnt what I wanted. I would also gander that rebuilding a 575 would probably cost more than doing two 454s or 502s, or be pretty dang close, and a nice thing about 454s or 502 regardless of engine set up, is the availability of parts, used engines etc. Also a bigger one engine is going to command a bigger more expensive drive. You also break down on a twin you can get back, a tow is going to run you at least 500 bucks a time. My point being is there goods and bads, but I think when you start comparing cost its more of a wash then some think when comparing two smaller twins in comparison to one big single and I really think it comes down to preference. When you start looking at used boats you really dont have a huge choice, so what engine(s) the boat has is going to be secondary to overall condition and price of the boat.

I went and looked at this boat last week and it is very rough. I was very disappointed after seeing the pics I thought that it looked to be in good shape.

I had the same issue a few years ago looking at a 29/525 late model, very rough condition and questionable maintenance/modifications. Wanted 65k, walked away from it even though they are very hard to find. Anyone in the market will have to expect to pay a steep premium for a mint 29 single, approaching 35 executioner prices. That wont change, as they dont build them anymore they are becoming rarer...
