i'm paying 879.00 for insurance the boat is still shrink wrapped from the trip home....I've been working on the boat house and lift. Still haven't purchased the lift i'm leaning toward the Hi Lift 10 or 12000 lbs, Will do pictures when I unwrap the boat. Thinking I better change the water pump prior to putting it on the water

Great idea especially if you didn't buy it from someone you really know how they drove and maintained the boat. While you are doing that I would go ahead and change the gear lube in your lower unit as well and engine oil. Buy the time you get the water pump off both will be drained and by the time you get the water pump back on your lower unit should be full again. I did this when I bought my boat and I was damn glad I did. I think the only thing the guy before me did is change the oil and batteries. Not that anything was messed up but you could tell it needed changing. Plus you know for SURE when they were changed last (water pump for sure). Best $200 or so peace of mind you can buy.

Change the gear lube in the mechanical fuel pump reservoir while you are changing the water pump impeller. Its a litle more work to remove that whole assembly, but it makes cleaning out that reservoir and changing the gear lube in it, much easier. A lot of folks don't even know that that reservoir is there.
