Help fixing seat please
I have a 2001 29 fever. I hit a wave yesterday and I was sitting while driving. When we landed, the seat dropped down just over an inch from the pressure of my weight landing. It pushed the seat down is best I can explain. The motor still works and the seat moves up and down fine as did prior. However, when it gets to up or the sitting position, it stops about an inch from where its supposed to be. I looked underneath and can't find any damage or broken parts. When it gets to the up position, an inch or so short, the post in the back pushes down as supposed to but the seat does not move for about 2 seconds worth of pushing the button.
Any ideas how to get it to go all the way up in sitting position would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! |

Either the upper frame bent where the ram fastens or the frame bent backwards where the linkage attaches. Both those areas are weak points. You gotta take it all apart to straighten. I welded in reinforcements in mine to add some beef to it so it can't bend. Seat bottom now comes all the way up and is solid! I can lift my boat off the trailer now from the seat frame and it won't bend. :)
In this pic, notice the slight bow at the upper frame member. The ram pushes on that frame, and it flex. The rod is supposed to keep it from flexing, but it really does little, other than forces the frame to move sideways as the rod is installed at an angle. I added a second rod, but going straight down and to a solid angle I added in for strength. The whole set frame is lightweight tubing and flat steel bent in a U-shape. But it's not thick enough to handle the forces it recieves from the design. |
Interesting. That is a huge help. Thank you.
