Fiberglass fuel tanks problems in the 90's
Does anyone know what exact years that Fountain had problems with their fiberglass fuel tanks? I am looking into purchasing a 1990 38 Fever, NADA doesn't have a 38 in 1990 so it maybe a 91. But anyways I have heard that there were issues with fuel tanks in the 90's and would like to know if this boat is during those years. Thank you. David

all the pleasure boat fuel tanks were aluminum and the early boats the fuel tanks were outsourced. Not sure what year but the plant started making them thereselves. there has been issues with the older outsourced tanks having corrosion issues and leaking.the ones I have seen were painted grey and it was always the port tank bottom weld seam had corrosion . The fountain built tanks had considerable aluminum gussetts over the seams and i dont think had the issues.

My 91 appears to be built like a tank. We installed speakers in front of the front seats and in the fountain emblems by the back seat... Glass was 2" thick (or close to that)
