Some let me know about the dyno thing please. Can this be done??

I think you will be happy when you get your boat back. you have upped each motor by 120 hp. I do agree your current intake and injectors are at their max, but to go to the next step is big bucks! Ron has built you some great motors out of what you had don't get caught up in the hp wars. Go enjoy your boat it sounds like a great one.

Yep, sounds like they made really good torque. You will feel that. It's summertime......enjoy. Those last few mph in a Fountain come slowly anyway. It starts to get lonely much above the mid 80's. Don't get me wrong, I am glad I have been there and want to do it again but for now I am good with regular oil change intervals, running 80 and burning 87.
I have friends that tune and props test all summer. They can squeeze out a few more mph than me but we mostly ride together? |

FWIW. A few years back I built a 500 EFI 509" with a Crane 741, lifters, springs & rockers. 9:6-1 JEs, 315 CNC AFRs. Dynoed & tweaked by one of the best EFI guys around. Made 572HP @ 5400, 616tq @ 4500 on 89 octane. Correction factors, altitude, avg. humidity, air temp etc. for my area.

Jake what kind of boat were these motors in? How fast did it top out at. I'm hoping to get in the 90s with the right props with my new set up. Do you think I will make it?? With the weight reduction and all the other goodies. I hope I do. I'm going to be really disappointed if not.

That engine was in a 27 Fastech boat ran mid 70s with a 26 Bravo 1.
I'm not familiar with Fountains and what HP it would take for your 32 to hit 90 so I can't say. But I hope you find the right combo (boat, power, props) to achive your goal. |
I stopped by Potters on Friday for a few minutes and it looked like they were hooking up the fuel systems to me. I took one picture of the motors just to keep it interesting.

This thread get's confusing as some people are comparing 500EFI builds vs the OP's 415MPI build.
The MPI intake is hugely restrictive. The 500 EFI is much better, and just to mention it, but restrictive enough that it is hard to get 600HP or more on the 500EFI intake without major mods and thus why Tyler Crockett made a top mounted throttle body mod to the 500EFI intake to get well into the 6's. When an intake runs out of breath, it runs out of breath. Thus why HP will be limited. Simple laws of nature. A 10$million dollar longblock under a NA 415/MPI intake isn't gonna be a world beater. |
