New to site and fountains

Hello guys new to the site and fountains but definitely not to boats lol. Family owned a marina for round 30 years even did a few years test driving for merc. When they were located right down the road in stilly ok. Spent plenty of time in all kinds of boats from wellcraft to formula and even hustler talons but after driving a couple fountains I always wanted a fountain. Now I got a good deal and am joining the ranks. Any advice or pointers on quirks the boats have is appreciated. 1993 fountain fever27.

Congrats GH, look forward to seeing some pics. I have the 27 too and love it. Very versatile, easy to work on, and a great riding boat.

You'll need to be a paying member for that. Avatars and pics are for paying. For pics they can be hosted from another site though

Gh700xx 01-26-2014 07:45 PM

Well hell I guess I'll throw em on fb tomorrow and do it that way.

thanks for posting those up man I appreciate it. I wish they would've left the bottom white when they painted it so I may change that back to white but I like the flames inside the word fountain and the overall black and orange theme on the boat. Now just time to get the interior to match lol.

Crude Intentions 01-27-2014 11:59 AM

I like a white bottom too but it looks good

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 12:02 PM

thanks

Nice looking boat. Here is some advice for a new fountain owner on OSO.

Your boat is not a 27 ft, even though that is the LOA measurement. OSO members that do not own fountains take 4 ft off your length to help them cope with the fact that it is extremely fast for its size. (It makes them feel better about being slow)

Even though your bottom is a race proven, safe, wave handling machine OSO members will try to convince you otherwise. The thought here is you can't go fast AND handle waves. This has always puzzled me, seems the hull of choice for super Vee should be a sunseeker or some other 60ft yatch under this premise.

Lefty jokes....no biggie

Your cabin and cockpit are small, some here will tell you it's so small that you should never have more than two people in the boat. Corvettes, Ferraris and such have the same problems......station wagons and mini vans do not have this problem.

Fountain went bankrupt (along with the majority of performance boat manufactures not making million dollar rides) and because you own a 20 year old fountain you are not allowed to debate its performance under this premise, in fact you should have burned the boat on site when you first acquired it. Apparently Reggie receives a 40 percent kickback on all used fountains sold, and this angers people.

Get a gold chain and black hair dye. This sometimes comes across as a punch line here, but it has been proven that this is the key to winning championships and setting records.

Don't mention speed record to anyone that owns an OL or a Cig.....lots of bad blood there.

Be prepared to prove that you are not Jim Darr. In fact, do not mention catamarans or boating in the mid west for at least one year....otherwise you will be banned for being Jim Darr.

Every once in a while you will see the word "Sunkin" it is not a typo, that's a man's name and it's actually profanity on this site.

Crude Intentions 01-27-2014 12:18 PM

Good intro 4bus. Remember cigs can run 80 in 8 footers

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 12:32 PM

LMAO I know there is some kind of axe to grind for some ppl as far as fountains go lol. Im not too worried though I like the boat and have always liked fountains. I have never met Reggie fountain and may never get the chance but I have seen plenty of interviews vids etc.... of the man to know I like his attitude lol. As far as im concerned it takes all types to make the world/boat world go round so to each their own but I like fountains. Don't get me wrong I like all kinds of boats from lil ones to big uns and eventually do want a cat of some sort just not sure what or when. But for now im happy with my lil ole project that I hope to put a lil power under and hit a few lakes and poker runs and goof off and have fun with everyone and go from there....

I do appreciate the compliments on the boat and the heads up about some of the ppl though lol.

US1 Fountain 01-27-2014 01:25 PM

Yeah yeah yeah. I got tired of the poor build, rough ride and small cockpit of my Fountain, so I bought a Baja cruiser. Now I can go anywhere, as fast as it will run, and carry as many as I want.

Baja. Speed Changes You

ItS not just a saying. It's a way of life. :D

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 01:29 PM

lmao yeah bout that

While bobbing up and down like a fishing cork.

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 02:28 PM

buck35 01-27-2014 10:21 PM

Welcome gh700xx

Gh700xx 01-27-2014 10:31 PM

Yeah I'm going to have to I guess.

CraneHillFast 01-28-2014 07:47 PM

Great looking boat GH and welcome again to the "Gold Chains and Black Died Hair Club". You will really enjoy that boat.

Gh700xx 01-28-2014 08:46 PM

Thanks I am planning on having plenty of fun.

Gh700xx 05-16-2014 03:13 PM

ok guys ill try to get some pics this weekend on here its moving into the final stages :evilb: :coolcowboy:

Gh700xx 08-16-2014 01:20 AM

Ok guys the interior is done as far as upjolstery. Stereo still in the works and so is dash. My question is with all these new parts and a good running 502 mag efi. Along with finishing the dash stereo etc. What do you all think the boat is worth? On a good aluminum tandem axle Peterson trailer with fresh bearing device etc turn key ready out the door? Also would it be worth more stock efi or modified carbureted? Just trying to get a feel for when the boat goes up for sale later this year.

Crude Intentions 08-16-2014 01:54 AM

Boats are like any other. You never get a roi. I would say stock efi will appeal to more buyers. Look around and see what clean ones are selling for. That'll be your best guess.

Gh700xx 08-16-2014 02:02 AM

I have and the prices are all over the place lol. That's why I was asking to honest opinions. I've seen some from high teens to high twenties in all kinds of shape.

Griswald 08-16-2014 06:10 AM

at the end of the day she's still a '93 model boat. I would guess mid to high teens for the right buyer.

Crude Intentions 08-16-2014 06:59 AM

I would guess high teens but I don't follow the 27s much. The 42s I have a better idea. Lol.

Gh700xx 08-16-2014 10:28 AM

Well then I sure as hell am not putting much else into her then lol. Was hoping to get just a touch over twenty out of her with all the work involved I really don't want to part her but if I can't get over twenty I probably will. Or just keep it but I really would like a bigger boat.
