v-berth bed leveling?

Doesn't bother me, cause when I sleep in the boat I am always drunk. But the wife asked if I could do something to level the bed this spring. We do sleep in the boat often, and usually end up half way down the slope by morning. at rest in the water my bed has to be at least 5 degree up hill, sleeping feet first is a big no no. Has any devised something to place under the cushion to level the bed? I was thinking of stacking "egg carton" foam like stairs and gluing them together.

Share some ideas, help keep a wife happy.

You could try a thick memory foam and cut it into a wedge. Heard the electric knife for cutting a turkey or whatever makes easy work of cutting it. Would be time consuming but very doable.

maybe buy carpet padding and cut and stack pieces until you get the right angle that you wish

I think your idea is going to be about the best and cheapest. You could use about any foam and pick it up somewhere like JoAnn fabrics. You could take a couple of plain white sheets sewn together to make a cover for it.

build a large ballast tank under the V birth, fill it and lowerr the bow untill its level.

2nd option, home town buffet, lunch and dinner every day. By late june the added girth should level it out once you climb up there.

The fat chick thing will work. :) If you build the foam up enough to level the bed, will there be any space between the foam and ceiling at the foot?

The wife and I aren't big people, we can sleep diagonally with no problem and that really makes a difference. You don't wake up with a wedgy

My ceiling is quite tall in the v berth area, that's not a concern. My only concern will be the mattress stifling out when traveling, to be level it will be above the wall that retains it in place. We also occasionally use the storage underneath.

I am going to measure again once it is back in the water. I have decided to take the whole mattress to an interior shop and have them add the foam and stitch it as one

Option 2 is definitely not an option! No fat chics

I thought we agreed no fat chicks on our type of boats any more. The last time we had this conversation one of our alumni had a busted passenger bolster from this same type thing. At that point we all agreed on the fat chick thing. Anyone else remember this thread besides me?? Our friend claimed his girl friend brought her along and that he had nothing to do with it at all. LOL

When the wife and I sleep in our 35 lightning we just put our feet to the bow and it works great

That is exactly what we did. Although I had it done when I recovered the V-Birth cushions with cloth on top and vinyl on the bottom. The shop only added about 3" and it was enough to make a difference, though not perfectly level. Then we use a thick comforter doubled up at the end, feet forward. The cloth made things stay in place alot better that the all vinyl cushions that were previously in the boat.

I don't even know how that is possible, I know it is not possible in my boat unless I wanted every drop of blood in my head by morning.

If you go with option # 2, you may need to bring flower (roll her around - look for wet spot) or chalk to mark where you left off on her...

When I was single there was this fat chick that lived in the apt 3 doors down and ...well she never blocked the view. I could watch an entire 1 hr TV show and she was still going...

How about an air mattress?

US1 Fountain 04-08-2014 12:48 PM

An air mattress will work. Just put more air in the 1 end. :)

phragle 04-08-2014 07:16 PM

it took me a couple to think of it, but its pure genius I tell you, pure genius!!!!! Have a waterbed mattress made,it would be self leveling and you can use it as a ballast tank when you need it!!!!! The chicks will dig it and it will earn you major style points. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!!! By filling it with the cooler lake water, you have now eliminated the need for an air conditioner!!!!

US1 Fountain 04-08-2014 09:32 PM

Oh yeah!
