35 speeds

quick question.. what kind of speeds COULD i see from a 95 35' staggared lightening, twin step, with 700's. maybe #3,4 or imco drives. half cabin or smaller. looking at building a poker run boat after the cafe. have a bunch of local guys with single step non stag. said they are up in the 80's on mild built 454's... found a perfect doner boat but havent seen any other staggered 35' with the twin step. there was discussion on the boat a few weeks prior about an over priced ebay listing... wondering if i lighten it enough could i get triple digits fairly easy?

95 twin step 35? Doesn't exist, and making one full stag would most likely be more work than anyone would want to get into.

A single step 35 side by side with 500s runs high 70's. If someone is telling you high 80s on mild build 454s they're lying about speed.

I bet those same guys brag about penis length also.

We'll the boat does exist so.. It's already full stagg. Just a hurricane boat I'm looking at redoing for a poker runner. Was wondering what speeds I could see out of that set up. Can't track down orig owner and it's the only boat set up this way that I've seen.. That's why I'm asking maybe someone can help connect the dots on numbers

And I'm not sure what they mean by "mild" there's a crazy motor guy around here that does everyone's work. Again I'm
Not sure. I was just wondering what this kind of set up what speeds I could see

Your best bet would to get a hold of RF, if it is a 95 stag, twin step it is a one off and they would know.

Production twin step side by sides didn't come out until 2000, and stag in 2007.

The 2007with 525's if set up right could get to 100.

Ya that was my next step. I have a crazy idea for it so I'm going to buy it anyways. Just curious about what I could see from the gps

I'm local, I would love to run some of those "crazy motors" let me know where and when....I'm just stock ;)

I agree with above, must be a one off. If rf3 knows of the boat he will have all the info you need, if he doesn't and you can't find out who did the mods I would run, hydrodynamics are not simple.

If the boat was done right it won't take a lot of powe to get it to triple digits.

Just checking, Rf you mean Reggie fountain?

Kelly O 05-11-2014 12:39 PM

Any chance the name of the boat is UNICORN ? From the specs it would seem to be a fabled creature.

There are definitely some customized older Fountains around, but that list of specs is almost an impossible combination.

It does sound really cool if it exists and would love to see something like that running around the area.

Get us some pics or more details, and yes RF3 is Reggie the third at Real Fast Marine.

Might be a good find. Take a good look at the steps though. something looks wrong with the stepalmost too small ( the single step in my '96 looks bigger)and the aft hull looks odd. But again that could be a find.

Forgot that the Cigarette guys call a 42 Fountain a 35.

315duramax 05-11-2014 07:35 PM

Hmm, ya I thought it looked long, but I'm pretty sure it's not a 42. Ebay add stated it was 35, and personal emails through the seller. I haven't measured it, but I don't think it's a 42.. BUT if it was a 42, what speeds would I see with that?

Ran-Dom 32 05-11-2014 08:25 PM

That's a 42, & was for sale on eBay for a while... Looks like a real turd

That is definitely a 42.. That was the one in Toms River. The motor locked up do to a bad header and when it was on land someone stole the drives. It use to be a nice boat..

Your arrogance and ignorance are only rivaled by mini-hawk. Are you by chance related?

It is a 42. You can tell by just looking at the picture and if you have any experience in the go fast market you would know that. So it doesn't exist ,not in 1995 anyway.
