Info on '99 32?
 

I just got a'88 29' in May.

Want to upgrade to a newer model. I have an opportunity to pick up a '99 32 at a great price. I know it is roughly the same boat but is in better condition and is a stepped hull.

Any insight into what to expect or look out for would be greatly appreciated.

I have driven both and your 88 is far superior in ride and handeling compared to the 99. I would not sell my 88 for the same boat with a stepped hull. You may get a little more speed but will not be able to handle rough water near as well and I found the stepped verison seems to wander and hunt when under wat instead of riding on rails. My sugestion is to take the extra money and upgrade the 88.

I hafe a 99 32 with 500's, The boat has awesome acceleration and top end. B.R.S. I have been in rough water and the boat is great, of course a 35 would be better and then a 38 would be better than the 35 etc. etc.....

And I have never had a problem at wat "wander and hunt" maybe you are talking about your coon dog.

Get the step, go faster, period.

Airwolf I have to disagree with you. My buddie has a '99 32 with steps and rides on my '88 often and he can't believe the rough stuff that I can run compared to him. He tells me all the time he would have to slow down for that as we just crush through it. Don't get me wrong if he had my motors the 99 would be wicked fast but you just dom't get the handeling in the rough like an old, heavy, non stepped version. They just need ALOT of power to run.

B.R.S. How much does your 88 weigh??

I haven't weighed it but with feul I would bet it weighs around 4 tons. The factory told me it weighed 6500# dry and she holds 180 gallons. It is built very stout.

180 gallons wow they must have changed the tanks. Do you have two tanks or just one?? My 99 weighs 7400 dry and holds 115 gallons, add beer 1000#. We used to boat on Erie with a 27' Fountain and would play with 1-3 footers with some discomfort but the 32 in 2-4 footers (on Erie mind you) is a piece of cake. Just my two cents.

Airwolf I have two seperate tanks. One for each engine and separate feul fills on each side. Kinda a pain in the a@@. I think the factory is wrong on 6500 i think it is closer to 8500. I'm going to weigh it in the near future to know for sure. I ran 65 in 3-5 on Erie last Wed. ehile heading to PIB. It seems to like some speed in the rough but you have to pay attention. The 99 is a very nice boat infact better than most but I wouldn't trade mine for one.
