New Boat

Purchased a new to me boat on Monday, I picked up a 1995 27ft Fountain Fever with a 525sc. This is my first fountain, previously had an 88 Baja 240 sport (The outlaw hull), and a 92 24ft Outlaw. Going through the boat currently to work out the small issues I found, just cause I am anal and EVERYTHING has to work as its suppose to lol. Really looking forward to getting it out this weekend to see what she has. I know this thread is useless without pics, so here you go lol.

Thanks man, good reminder need to take a look at where to put that

That has to be a pretty rare set-up with the single 525 SC, is it all original?

soldier4402 08-20-2014 03:02 PM

you buy that in NY. I cant see your pics but there was a red and white one around here in upstate ny with about the same set up.

Yes it came with this power originally. Before I bought it I called fountain with the HIN to have them send me the performance sheet on it when it was produced and tested, and it has the 525sc listed. Guy I bought it from said the original owner special ordered with the 525sc. Which checked out according to the performance sheet. Boat has only 586 hours on it, and the motor and blower were rebuilt about 130 hours ago.

No, this was originally a Chicago boat, then it went to Ohio, and then came here to the Chesapeake Bay the beginning of this season so was a fresh water boat its entire life.

I have only ran the boat once, but there is a little discrepancy, the GPS unit on the boat said 74 and was still climbing, and my phone GPS said 75.9. When we were cruising my phone GPS and the GPS on the boat matched. I am thinking the GPS on the boat wasn't reacting as fast as the phone, as I have used my phone for a base many times and its very accurate. The performance sheet that fountain sent me said 79.3 on the radar. Im not saying that didn't happen, but the conditions they run in aren't typical of our everyday conditions lol. the test date was in November at 10am, was 60 degrees, 12-15kt winds, 1ft chop, and they test in the paamlico river which has a generous current and 50/50 salt/fresh water. Talk about perfect conditions lol

Thank you guys for the congrats and the compliments. Looking forward to getting back out there. I sold my boat 2 weeks ago, so hasn't been that much of a lay off, still jonesin though

Very nice! And yes I want to visit the river one day and see what my Fountains do out there. lol.

How does the boat feel up top? I hear mixed reviews on how stable the 27's feel (chine-walk) at mid 70's and up...

ealesh33 08-21-2014 07:22 PM

Felt very solid up top, had the tabs level with the bottom at 2.5, trimmed out to about 5.75ish.

badluck 08-22-2014 06:18 AM

What prop are you running?

ealesh33 08-22-2014 06:27 AM

Looks good. Congrats!

LKNCOBALT 08-23-2014 10:08 PM

Congrats! That's a fast 27 for sure. Enjoy! The fountain factory is very helpful if you need parts in order to make your boat like new.

Congratulations and welcome to the family! 525SC should be a little rocket! Enjoy and be safe!
