Gas Tank Sending Units

Wondering if anyone knows how to access the sending units on my boat. My gas gauges are acting up and I was told that the float in the tanks could be hung up..? How do I access the Pick-Ups in the tanks..?

Boat is a 1997 Fountain 35' Lightning with twin tanks

Should be a round access plate under bench. Ordered mine off eBay. Before replacing check your ground wire. Pretty sure it's the same on 35's but I could be incorrect.

Oh. And part number should be on sending unit and readable before you take out. May have some gunk on it tho. I would order part before you take out. Just google or eBay the part number. Just my .02.

I've seen a few with only one fuel gauge, including my 38. Does anyone know if both tanks have senders, or do I have to install one in the port tank to put a fuel gauge on it?

Thanks
Matt

my boat has 2 fuel gauges....another question I was having is are the tanks not connected..? Meaning I have 2 separate fuel fills one on each side. So I am assuming that the tanks are not connected.

No fountain fuel senders are 100% accurate.

Dual tanks are not connected

Mine do not move until I am below half. I run out at about one eighth.

Most are universal parts, I would reccomend pulling them to make sure you get the right type. Once you get the new sender clean up the connections, and then you have to measure and bend the rod that that float slides on.

NO Boat is accurate one. Ive always figured 1/4 swing either way, and never let a boat get below 1/4 tank

All three of the fountains I have owned preformed that way.

My starboard is good from full to a 1/4 at a 1/4 it just sits, hence the reason I really want to get a guage put on the port tank lol....I found out the hard way that port engine eats more fuel than the starboard....limp mode lol
