How much did you cut?

Ok those of you who have ventured to cut your windshields down how much did you go? What is your length of the center front brace from the bottom touching the boat to the top edge?

Not a Fountain but I removed mine and mocked up several different heights with some door skin material until i liked what I saw , But mine was a flat panel windshield.

On your Fountain it appears that the forward glass gains some height and almost sweeps up from the sidewing post forward'. I would play around with laying some tape on it than go back and observe from many angles. You do not run into where if you look at it the forward portion appears lower than the side glass

I've heard its a muther scratcher to get the windshield back together. It would be cool if someone would post up a how to of them cutting their windshield down and reassembling.

I'm in the process now. Took off the top 1/3 and am waiting on the top rail to get here. One thing I can say is measure 10 times and then cut. I built a jig to hold the bottom frame and have taken measurements and marked the frame up something terrible. Take your time and it is not bad. Once I get one side done I will mirror the measurements for the other side. I am going to use tinted Lexan for the windshield. Fairley inexpensive and will bend to the shape you need and not break. Really pretty cool stuff.

Don't drill any holes till you put the plexie back in they will not line up, when you put all the rubbers in it will change. The front glass takes two guys to put in

Taking frame to welder. Having top rail cut and extended. Will take pics after. I will post pics here before long to show my process. Finally decided to use my original top rail on one of my side windows to extend. Didn't want to do that but had to.
