32' Fever top speed

Just bought a 32' 99 fever with 502mpi's and took it out for the first time over the weekend with 3 or 5 people it was running 75 on speedo and 71-72 on 2 different cell phones. Does this seem right? Each of the people are 150 or less. It has bravo 1 26p props.

Crude Intentions 10-20-2014 08:30 PM

I don't own a fever but that sounds about right to me. You can also call fountain and get the original test report from when boat was built sent to you. Just remember that was with 1 person and minimal fuel.

Wildman_grafix 10-20-2014 08:49 PM

US1 has the same boat and I thought he has said 74-75 any day, maybe a best of 77.

What props and are they turning in or out? You gain a little spinning in.

For me everyone has said spinning in makes docking a pain,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I must just suc because it didn't seem any worst for me! LOL

Crude Intentions 10-20-2014 08:51 PM

Nice Phil. Start putting it together yet? Lol

It has bravo 1 26p 4 blades. And I've never payed attention what way they turn, It didn't seem to make a difference full of empty of gas or rough or smooth water either but you know how it is, more speed is always better lol

Wildman_grafix 10-20-2014 09:54 PM

Yes there are a few things bolted on the transom,,,,,, more wiring completed more to go,,, a lot more. But at least it is cooler so when I do have days off I can work on it.
Got my battery boxes from the hydro-dip shop. Who now has my truck because of some A$$ that doesn't know how to steer a lawn mower of all things,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Back on topic, US1 or someone my speak up but you do seem a couple mph off. What were drive and TABS at? What rpm did you pull?

T_traylor1 10-20-2014 10:45 PM

Unfortunatly i don't remember exact rams, but roughly just a over 5k to maybe 5200. The drives anywhere from 3-5.5 and tabs from 3-1.

T_traylor1 10-20-2014 11:17 PM

From this can you tell if they turn in or out?

Turning in

jmoore1225 10-21-2014 01:32 AM

Try Trimming a little more, my straight hull runs 70-71, you should be around 75 or tad more.

US1 Fountain 10-21-2014 05:34 AM

I see 75 everyday regardless of load or conditions and 78 being not uncommon. GPS speeds. Although the speedo was only off by 1 the last time I compared it

Runnng 26 Hydros turning out. I saw 0-1 speed loss when swapped from in to out. I prefer out myself.

Wildman_grafix 10-21-2014 05:48 AM

Check your indicators, 3 should be neutral. Maybe you are not trimmed like you think.

boatnt 10-21-2014 06:56 AM

I have a 99 with 502s spinning in,when I bought the boat it came with 26 bravos I would see 76-77 ,,I bought a set of bravo 28 labbed and I was able to get 78-79 out of it but I did notice it took a little longer to get on plane ,mid range was also better with the bravo 26s,,I called Fountain and they emailed me the performance report and they got 77 out of it when it was built with Hydromotive 26s spinning in,everyone I talked too said the boat will run better with Hydromotives,,I just bought a set of 26 Hydros,,I will try them in the spring and see how they perform .

T_traylor1 10-21-2014 08:34 AM

I'm sure I'm not as good of a driver as Reggie was, but he got 79 with hydros when new, maybe a little more trim would have helped

mikeyj08 11-01-2014 08:50 AM

I've got a 99' 32' with 500 EFI's and it runs 80-85mph.

T_traylor1 11-03-2014 04:01 PM

I took the boat out again the other day, and trimming it from all the way in up until you can start to hear them slip which is about 6, I trimmed down and got 74 by myself, and constantly getting 72. Moving tabs from 3 to all the way up made no difference. Boat was 1/4 tank or less running 49-5000rpm

In what kind of water?
You should be at neutral tabs in flat water.
If you are not turning 5000- 5300 rpms check compression or do a leak down on it.
How many hrs on motor.
You are turning ( in) this lifts the back end of the boat. So I would say your sweet spot is around 4 1/2 - 5 on trim in flat with 2 tabs.
In the snot you should be around 2 1/2 trim with 3- 31/2 tab.

MILD THUNDER 11-03-2014 05:24 PM

Something to think about......Saltwater or freshwater, altitude, ambient air temp, all come into play. I'm sure if if took my boat from Chicago freshwater 650ft above sea level, to florida saltwater at sea level, I'd pick up a little.

And as a bonus, I'd generally not be such a crabby fuker if I was down there sipping margaritas with some of those hot skanky puerto rican broads.

I believe you are incorrect on the rotation. Turning "IN" sucks the back of the boat down, inducing bow lift. Turning out, helps lift the stern. Turning in, is more of help on longer boats, like say a 38-42, where you got alot of beak out there to carry. Prob not needed on a 32. My boat was a total flat running turd with the cleaver props and turning "out". She rode wet. I prefer it dry. Well, in this case only. :pacifier:

Wildman_grafix 11-03-2014 08:01 PM

On my 32 raising the tabs above 3 didn't get me any more speed. Some even have stops from the factory.

Do the 502 mpi's like to be spun to 5300?

boatnt what rpm did you see with the Bravo's.

I checked and if your 74 was at 5000 it is just about the same prop slip I have with 28 hydro's at 83. Like Drew asked, how many hours?

Wildman_grafix 11-03-2014 08:04 PM

Oh and Mild, the ones in Orlando seem to be *****&s,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I bet you could find a www.cougerlife.com:evilb:

I am running right around 5050RPM

I would think 5300 RPM is too high for a stock 502.

T_traylor1 11-03-2014 11:35 PM

Boat has 420 hours fresh water use

jmoore1225 11-03-2014 11:44 PM

I think it actually states 4900-5100RPM on the spec tags on the motors.

Crude Intentions 11-04-2014 02:14 AM

Joe come on down to Florida. Get ya past that 89.9 mark. Lol. We also have hit skanks of all flavors. Hahaha.

SimonS32 11-04-2014 06:08 AM

My boat also a 99 with 502 mpi's hydro 26's spinning in with close to 500 Hr's fresh water @ 4900 rpm run's 77 with a normal load of chit for the weekend and half tank of fuel. Drives at 5 tabs at 3 since that is where they stop with the rubber stoppers. I would think you should see 74-75 with that boat no problem.

Do you know if the props have been re worked at all? What kind of shape are they in? Also just to note my boat going from Lake Erie to Lake Cumberland loses a couple of MPH. Different environment.

T_traylor1 11-04-2014 04:31 PM

i really don't know if the props have been messed with, they are in good shape tho don't look to have been beaten on. I've only owned the boat about 4 weeks had it at cumberland for a weekend with flat water and 60-78 degree days.

5 people under 150lbs ? Must be all females. Congrats on that too !

If guys mixed in, seems weird. I don't think I know one guy under 15yrs old under 150lbs. maybe it's where i live. LOL.
