Just picked her up, pretty darn excited. 99 42 with 500hps. She's in good shape but lots of little things and lots of possibilities, thinking of: - remove the arch - cutting down the windshield - paint? - dye the vinyl On a side note - any tips on cleaning the bilge? Been scrubbing away and it's not coming out like I'd hoped, used to a smooth finish in daddy's formula bilge |
Nice. Was that the one on eBay?
|
My opinion is leave it. Still have the 2000 brochure of the 47 with the arch... Some day...
|
I've seen the old style windshields cut down. Didn't know these could be done... Would like some info...
Nice boat! |
yeah was the one on ebay. Just from crawling around on it cleaning it this weekend the arch has to go, its in an awkward spot and in the way all the time

At this point the boat is on the trailer and I drive to wherever I'm going, pull the drain plug- remove the tennis balls and hose out till clear. The agitation with the tennis balls really does a good job. If I could attach a pic of the bilge I could -- but it really does keep it clean. 3pointstar |
Everything went well obviously .. Looks good, going to be a long winter for you :drool1:

Congrats!!
|
I was watching that boat. I like the arch but that's me. Have fun!
|
I did not see it on ebay.... Nice piece for sure!

3point, thanks, never would have thought of that method, I'll give it a shot The arch is almost off, had to get the grinder and sawzall out lol |
You stole it on ebay.. how much did you pay for the trailer since there was no trailer included in the auction?
beautifull boat.. i would just remove the arch, cut the windshield down and wrap it. congrat on your purchase. |
I had the trailer under another boat already, will be looking for a proper trailer this winter. thanks!
|
Congrats - if you cut the windshield down yourself, post up lots of pics and details. I've been waiting to see how involved it is.

I use super degreaser from meguiars professional detailing line of products. Spray it all down and go to town with whatever brush it takes to get in every nook and cranny.

I've had the best luck with HOT water and Simple Green -- Disconnect the batteries and fill the bilge just to the point below the oil pan-- estimate it -- add Simple Green full strength and let it soak-- scrub with a scrub brush on a handle as best as you can rinse and it should work.

Nice boat! I have had good luck with 3m bilge cleaner. I disconnect the bilge pumps pour in a gallon of cleaner and fill with hot water let sit over night then pull the drains and scrub then rinse.

Congrats that looked like a great deal!

It's been a long time coming and a lot of sweat getting it ready but yesterday went better than I could have hoped. Boat ran so good, pretty much every gauge and button was working and it just rides so ****ing good.
Major things I tackled: Cut off the arch, cut down the windshield, Mitcher T Paint, painted the interior add to that 100 little things and trying to keep up with normal life and I had myself a 9 month project. Which is kind of fitting because this thing is like my baby, I think I'll put a picture in my wallet to show people lol. Thanks to everyone on here for the encouragement and kind words along the way. http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psj8wqfmjz.jpg http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psfshtqs6r.jpg http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...pshpowbipr.jpg http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psysu1q3c1.jpg https://youtu.be/8LTcrpycSMU |
